ANZAC Day 2025 โ Lest We Forget
Each year on 25 April, we come together as a nation to honour the service and sacrifice of all Australians and New Zealanders who have served in military operations, beginning with the ANZACs who landed at Gallipoli in 1915.
ANZAC Day holds a deep place in the heart of our country. Itโs a time to reflect on the courage, endurance and mateship of those who served, to mourn those who were lost, and to acknowledge the ongoing impact of war on veterans, families, and communities.
At Fitzroy Community Club, we pause today to honour the men and women โ past and present โ who have served our country with bravery and commitment. We recognise the emotional legacy of war: the memories shared between comrades, the pride and gratitude of those who remember, and the grief carried by loved ones left behind.
From Gallipoli to present-day deployments, we remember those who gave everything, and those who returned forever changed.
We are grateful for the freedoms we enjoy today and remain ever mindful of the cost of peace.
Lest we forget.

๐Special Cricket Update๐
Further to yesterday's announcement congratulating Raheel Raghib, it gives us great pleasure to announce that last night Nick Raymond was also awarded Life Membership of the Fitzroy Cricket Club.
Since arriving at pre-season training in 2017, Nick "Texta" Raymond has been a great friend to us all and an incredible servant to the cricket club. Nick has played 129 matches for the club, never missing a game, notching seven half-centuries and a highest score of 91.
Texta is a dual premiership player, having represented our A-Grade side in the successful back-to-back campaigns of 2017-18 and 2018-19. He served as President of the Fitzroy Cricket Club during a difficult time in 2020 thru 2023 and is the founder of the Junior Cricket Program which is now beginning to feed players into our senior ranks. Texta is a Bill Hards Trophy winner, an A-Grade batting trophy winner and Best Team Man trophy winner, and his life membership at Fitzroy adds to the life membership he has been awarded by his junior club at Coromandel.
Fitzroy Cricket Club would not exist without Nick Raymond. At every turn, the enjoyment of others is his first thought and he continues to provide hours of volunteering and support to the cricket club. We are privileged to know him and call him our friend and team-mate. Congratulations Texta!

๐Special Cricket Update๐
Ahead of tonight's cricket presentation, we'd like to announce that Raheel Raghib will this evening be awarded Life Membership of the Fitzroy Cricket Club.
For more than a decade, Raheel has been a distinguished presence at Fitzroy Cricket Club. Joining us in 2012, Raheel was part of the C&CCA A-Grade Premiership side in 2013-14 and led our A-Grade to back-to-back ASCA Premierships as captain in 2017-18 and 2018-19.
Raheel played 123 matches for Fitzroy in a time where the majority were two-day format, equating to countless Saturdays spent in the red, gold and blue.
Unfortunately, Rah cannot make it to the club this evening for Presentation, but has left us the video message below. Please join us in congratulating Rah and showing your gratitude for the many years of service he provided to the Fitzroy Cricket Club.

๐ Cricket Update ๐
Stumps at Thomas Turner Reserve, and it's not the result we were looking for... Adelaide Warriors victorious over Fitzroy's B-Grade side by six wickets. Matt Olesnicky was brave with the bat, whilst Rayyan Ahmed and Luke Tylkowski snared two wickets each with the ball.
Thanks so much to the huge crowd of friends and family that came out to watch today, cheering on our boys right until the end. Thanks to all the players that brought out gazebos, chairs, food and drink to ensure we set up a real Fitzroy home, away from home!
All that's left of what has been a big summer of cricket now, is our Presentation Night at the club next Saturday from 6:30pm. All welcome, see ya there!
