The older we get, the higher our risk of heat-related illness.

As you get older, you may be less likely to notice when you are becoming overheated or dehydrated โ€“ especially if you live alone, have medical conditions, or take certain medicines.

If you are at a higher risk, follow these tips:
โ€ข Plan for a friend or relative to check-in on you once or twice a day.
โ€ข Use air-conditioners and fans to keep cool.
โ€ข Put a wet cloth around your neck or put your feet in a bowl of cool water.
โ€ข Drink water regularly throughout the day, even if you donโ€™t feel thirsty.
โ€ข Ask your GP how your medications may affect you when itโ€™s hot.

The Red Cross provides a free telephone service for vulnerable people in the community to ensure they are well and coping in hot weather. Register by calling 1800 188 071.

Join us to show recognition and support for the First Nations people of Australia on this significant day in Australian history. February 13th the anniversary of our national apology to the Stolen Generations.

We will again be walking alongside the City of Port Adelaide Enfield for this year's ๐—ช๐—ฎ๐—น๐—ธ ๐—ผ๐—ณ ๐—”๐˜„๐—ฎ๐—ฟ๐—ฒ๐—ป๐—ฒ๐˜€๐˜€, ๐Ÿญ๐Ÿฏ ๐—™๐—ฒ๐—ฏ๐—ฟ๐˜‚๐—ฎ๐—ฟ๐˜†, 10.15am for a 10.45am start, at the Birkenhead Bridge.

The event is held on the anniversary of the National Apology to the Stolen Generations, to commemorate this important moment in our nation's history.

We walk together to bring awareness of the Stolen Generations and the ongoing legacy of trauma and loss that continues to affect Aboriginal peoples today. Understanding and acknowledging this shared history is key to reconciliation, and we embrace our Kaurna and First Nations communities and continue to work towards reconciliation.

Join us for a Smoking Ceremony, Kaurna Welcome to Country and free BBQ following the walk.

We hope to see you there.
