Meet Scotty, our bass man! 🙌🏾
Scott has a deep passion for music that began when he was young but it wasn’t until high school he decided to pick up the bass and pursue music seriously. He continued his music studies after leaving school completing a diploma of music at TAFE and then a bachelor’s degree in jazz at the elder conservatorium of music.

Scott’s musical influences range from a variety of genres like Jazz, Metal and Hip Hop but are deeply rooted in rock bands like Led Zeppelin, Black Sabbath, Van Halen, KISS, The Beatles and many more.

Outside of music Scott has a passion for health and fitness and loves playing/watching sports. He’s been playing live in the Adelaide music scene since 2018 with SUBSTANCE and a variety of other musicians.

Meet our lead vocalist & bv powerhouse Taneesha.

Taneesha has a cultural background of Australian,Bulgarian & Māori.
She has always had a passion for music and has been performing professionally for 8 years!

Taneesha is musically influenced by artists like Whitney Houston, Aretha Franklin, Beyoncé, Jessie J & Pink to name a few.

Some other projects she is involved in include:
“Taneesha music” - solo artist (Vocals & guitar), “SUGA” (lead vocalist of band) or “Vibe Rnb Collective” as a featured singer.

Some of her favourite hobbies outside of SUBSTANCE include Boxing & Soccer.

Fave food: Pasta
Fave animal: Siberian Tiger

GET TO KNOW OUR BAND MEMBERS! 🥁

Meet our drummer and all things tech guru Brendan Maloney!

Originally from NSW, Brendan moved to South Australia continuing his passion for music. It was during his studies in Adelaide at Tafe that he met his fellow band members Jode, Scott & Taneesha.

Brendan has been drumming for over 15years and finds inspiration in his idols Dave Weckl (Jazz drummer) Senri Kawaguchi (Japanese Fusion/Jazz drummer), Katsuji (previous Crush 40 drummer) to name a few!

Outside of SUBSTANCE, Brendan spends time as the drummer for “Five Foot Gaga” with fellow musician Kat Jade as well as “Vibe RnB Collective”.

Brendans advice for anyone out there wanting to play drums is to “practice, practice, practice”!!

❤️❤️SUBSTANCE ANNOUNCEMENT❤️❤️

Hi everyone,

We would like to inform all of our supporters that we are farewelling Jacob Howard our lead guitarist who has been with the band since the very beginning 9 years ago. As we look back at where it all started to where we are now we are each thankful for the journey we’ve shared.

We thank Jacob for his time in the band and wish him all the very best for his future🙌🏾.

We would also like to mention that we will be welcoming Taneesha into SUBSTANCE and she will be leading the band alongside Jode.
Taneesha is a seasoned performer and powerhouse entertainer and we are excited and very blessed to have her!

There will be many changes over the coming months but we look forward to seeing you all at our next gig 🙌🏾.

Hi everyone! Hope your weekend has been blessed so far.

A quick update for those who have been asking about our position at The District and when they’ll be seeing us next.

Well, after a meeting with the booking agent a contract has been drawn up and i can inform you that you’ll be seeing SUBSTANCE back there very soon.

I’m happy that we’ve reached an agreement that is fair and transparent. Looking forward to getting back to The District once again. 🙌🏾
