Miss 9 loved the bright ‘rainbow’ party kit her parents hired for her recent birthday party - bunting, table cloth and tableware included. Congratulations on choosing the low-waste party option of hiring instead 👍🏼👍🏼👍🏼

It was great to see this party kit for 12 (including serving bowls and water jug) get some use at a recent backyard birthday party for a Miss 9. The perfect waste-wise accompaniment for a slippery slide party!

The concept of hiring a party kit is probably new to most Albany locals but it's pretty similar to most event hire items. 'Yes' the washing up of the kits is included in the hire fee. We just ask that the items are 'wiped clean' (ie no food chunks still stuck to the plates/bowls) before returning.

After packing up the Party Kits Albany stall at the Green Fair on Saturday, I rushed home to prepare for my daughter’s ‘glow disco’ party…and completely forgot to take photos of the party kit in use! I was too busy icing the cake, running party games and dancing! Rookie error!

Before purchasing stock for these party kits, I did a lot of research to find tableware that was bright and durable but also would not be contributing to Australia’s plastic waste issue.

I considered buying compostable, plant-based alternatives but learned that even after they’ve been composed, you still end up with micro plant-based bits, similar to plastic, entering the environment. I was advised by industry regulators that the most enviro-friendly option would be to purchase recycled plastic products that could be recycled, again, when no longer useful.

Based on this information, I chose to purchase Re-Play products because they are made from recycled plastic and can be recycled, again, at their end-of-life. In WA, the Re-Play products can be recycled by Claw Environmental (who’s recycling facility is in Welshpool).
