The first Your Piano Lounge' was an art installation by Paloma Concierta (me) at Aldinga Central Shopping centre, 2017, The Show Room. The only cost was the customers’ participation. I placed 3 pianos on display in a car show room on a Turkish carpet for public use over a peri
od of 4 months and engaged various other artists in workshopping art works. It has now evolved and the original three pianos are going their own way into the community. Currently one is on the balcony of Home Grain Bakery, Old Coach Rd. The other two are in transit. I also have another piano related installation called which was part of an art exhibition . That piece has now moved to winery but is also considered a vital part of the family of pianos. Yerta Piano Lounge has been allowed to degenerate in the elements out doors, along side a scenic dam on a gorgeous winery. One day we all be Yerta too. (‘Yerta’ means Earth in Kaurna.)
has become a movement to put pianos in public places where social interaction can occur. It is my desire to bring the community together through this unique combination of art, participation and online promotion. Your piano lounge is an art activity that not only makes economic sense but also social sense as it brings something that has sense of joy and pride to our everyday shopping activities. I am encouraged by the sharing of simple video experiences and photographs by individuals experimenting as react to the pianos. Small pockets of beauty and happiness in your day can do wonders for your mood and your community.
