Coming Wed Oct 23 to Apollo Bay

A familiar face to many locals who enjoy live entertainment, comedian, actor and writer, Damian Callinan is hitting a number of South West venues on a regional tour this October!

He's travelling from Apollo Bay to the Commercial Hotel Terang Victoria on the 24th, the Victoria Hotel Port Fairy on the 25th and Sterling Place - Dunkeld Community Centre on the 26th before heading up to Apsley.

Last year Regional Arts Victoria took this show on the road across the country, so we're delighted that he's bringing this storytelling, sketch, and character driven comedy to more regional towns this year!

See https://damiancallinan.com.au/gig-guide/ for more info and to join in the fun.

Don't miss your chance to be part of this very special Changemakers event which will host (some of) the creators of .3909 – an inspiring group of creatives from East Gippsland who are changing the way art and creativity is perceived and engaged with by the broader community.

Recognising that artists are unique storytellers and are able to highlight the value of the smaller corners of a community, its people and natural environment (and that this value is beyond monetary), FLOAT have developed an ever-evolving model that sits between art project and unique social enterprise. Come and hear how FLOAT is melding disparate pursuits like fruit bottling, an artist’s residency, alternative education and storytelling to benefit an entire community and inspire new ways of thinking about community development, economies and tourism.

Guests: Josephine Jakobi and Andrea Lane, co-founders of FLOAT3909

When: Sunday 13 October, 11:00am – 2:00pm

Lunch will be provided.

Event is FREE.

CHANGEMAKERS 6 // PLACEMAKING // Meet Josephine Jakobi, co-founder of FLOAT .3909
Josie says: "My children are grown, my grandchildren are thriving; life is good. My focus is art, community and environmental curiosity. Fortunately, I live in a region that satisfies all of this.
My studio is situated at my forever home, Bungalook, near Lakes Entrance, on the edge of the Colquhoun Forest. Here I make my art, which is increasingly centred around the Lake Tyers estuary. Mine is a mixed media practice, with ecology deeply embedded in the process."
As co-founders of FLOAT, Josephine Jakobi and Andrea Lane are a formidable and unstoppable force, drawing in diverse members of their community to build a thriving economy of riches beyond the monetary.
Come meet and hear both Josie and Andrea at our next Changemakers. Apollo Bay Mech Hall on 13 October.

What's been your favourite song from Tonight We Anchor In Apollo Bay?
I LOVED this version of The Ship Song. The original songs were moving and wonderful too.
And I smiled listening to the interval songs - Six Months in a Leaky Boat and Ship of Fools.

I'd love to see a playlist on Spotify πŸ˜‰βš“β›΅πŸŒŠ
