Some plants do well, being seeded directly where they are to grow, but I mostly start my seed in trays or in soil blocks
Either option has time consuming aspects to it.
With the trays, it’s the ‘pricking out’ of the germinated seeds into their own space.
With the soil blocks, it’s the making of the actual blocks that take the time. [But how good is fitting 300plus seeds into one tray!!!]
I find both processes quite meditative though, especially with music or a podcast to keep me company. I guess I’ll probably do a mix of both…
In spite of the current heat, seed starting for ‘cool weather’ planting needs to begin!

Roadside stalls are the sweetest, and I love the idea of them, but this way I no longer have to guess what the demand for flowers might be, and I am no longer at the mercy of the weather, waste or theft.
From your side, you don’t have to rely on luck, as to whether there are flowers waiting for you as you detour past my place. That can only be a good thing right?
I’m mostly around home and SO happy to cut something fresh from the garden, just for you. Simply phone or message ahead and your flowers will be waiting for you on my front porch (weekends included). 🌼
The added bonus is that you get to peek at my garden on the way through 😉

I was lucky enough to snare some beautiful hydrangea stems from my sisters garden in Ferny Creek, and deliberately let this one wilt so I could show you this little bit of magic triage I’ve only just discovered.
I want my flowers to have a reputation of the BEST kind…that of being naturally long lasting; knowing how to condition without the use of chemicals, is important to me.
