Hi, I’m Glenda Davis, a calligrapher and chalkboard lettering artist. I started my working life drawing and hand lettering engineering plans. My interest in lettering, and writing in general, led to a diploma in showcard and ticket writing, and I continued on to study graphic design. I guess I was destined to write on things in one form or another. I have years of experience in the business of wed

dings and celebration stationery, corporate and event work. My signature style is appreciated by those seeking a quality, hand written service. My calligraphy and lettering reflects my love of history; the beauty of hand written letters, addressed envelopes and hand written documents. Day trip north on the train, out of Padova to this cool town, had lunch in a cool bar called Go To Bar, where a hilarious chica called Mary ran the place and kissed every man that came in, and in there met 2 Aussie girls who went on holiday to Italy 30 years ago and met their Italian husbands and have lived in the area ever since! Took in the sights, had a couple of Prosecco’s in the square and people watched. And of course we had to have a Grappa tasting in a town called Bassano del Grappa in the shadow of Monte Grappa! Charming place!

Our day today in reverse.. found a great wine bar called Brutal, drank good vino and ate cicchetti (Italian tapas) some great street art, and an interesting mirror, some park sculpture, Piazza Garabaldi where Gucci, Prada, Louis Vuitton all hang out, some fabulous doors and buildings from around 1200’s. Friendly, cool place is Padova.❤️🇮🇹

Now in beautiful Padova (Padua). A different feel again to this beautiful town. Walked around today to the Prato della Valle 90,000 square meters with plenty of lamp posts and huge urns and lots of statues. We thought one would have said “ Hey cherub, stand here and hold this!”
Amazing buildings and many beautiful doors. Our hotel is across the piazza from Basilica di Antonio. More to explore tomorrow.

Our last day in Bolonga we visited the Basilica Di San Petronio. It has an unfinished front only in marble half way up, the rest was only in brick! Started in 1390! It has never been finished. The pope at the time said stop, as it was going to look more grand than his in Rome. The inside is so large!! Some fabulous gates, door knockers. And Palace of Archiginnasio built in 1562-1563 became the first university and the colonnade roof has over 6,000 coats of arms of all the students and professors. It ceased as a university in 1803 and became a library in 1838. Off to Padova on the train for more exploring!

Wandering in Modena, cafe lunch in an old drug store complete with apothecary drawers. Cobbled streets, colonnades, basilica, a lot of the buildings were painted, yellow, terracotta, and pinks, and a tiny Fiat!!! Also a visit to the Ferrari Museum to come in next post… #
