Micro weddings, what the heck are they and why should you consider having one?

Micro weddings are small and intimate weddings usually including no more than 30 of you favourite people. A small wedding in this style is perfect for couples who love the idea of eloping but wish to keep the traditional aspect of having loved ones take part in this special day.

With the uncertainty of our future due to Covid, this is a great way to plan a wedding and be sure that you will meet social distancing requirements and not have to do a last minute cull of the guest list or postpone your big day if restrictions are reintroduced.

Having a smaller wedding also allows you a much larger variety of beautiful venues or your own spruced up backyard that may not fit a larger group. Having a smaller guest list can also help you save a little money and stick to your budget or give you some spare cash to indulge in the more luxurious options you wouldn't otherwise consider.

Your wedding day is one of the most amazing but also busy days of your life. A Micro wedding allows you to fit in some more quality time with your guests and have time to enjoy the memories while you make them. Plenty of time to taste all of the food, have a few celebratory drinks and most importantly get down a boogie on the dance floor !

For all of my lovely couples planning their dream wedding exciting news is upon us! From the 1st of December you will be able to have up to 300 people at your wedding in NSW (given the venue is large enough) meaning less of a cull to the list of guests you've been writing all year, no more paper scissors rock or arm wrestles to decide who's auntie or uncle is more important to invite, there's room for everyone in the family now !

Important things to remember when you are married or in a serious relationship:

Put God at the centre of it all.

Don’t ever assume your partner feels loved. Tell them why they are loved.

Date nights are a must.
Doesn’t matter if you go out, or stay in.

Talking openly about what you want to change in your relationship is important.

Learn each others love language.
We all don’t perceive love the same way.

When you get into a fight, don’t just say “I’m sorry”. Say what you are sorry for, and how you will react differently next time.

It will get boring sometimes.
Every couple goes through the “boring” stage.
It’s normal.
It will fade.
This is the time in your relationship you will have to put the most effort in.

Some days you will have to pull more weight than your partner, and vice versa.

It’s important to check in on each other’s mental health.

It’s okay to go to couples counselling.
It helps.
It doesn’t mean you two are ending, or failing.

Talk about money.
Talk about your financial goals.
Let your partner know what you expect from them, and vice versa.

Turn off the phones an hour before bedtime and just talk to each other.

Ask questions like

“What do you need to see more of from me?”
“How can we understand each other better?”

And most importantly, be kind to each other.

Love each other.

Fight for each other.

Remember, love is never easy, and it’s one hell of a ride.

But damn, is it ever beautiful, and worth it.
