While in Ballarat for Heritage Festival, it might be a good idea to take a drive into the Nerrina Heritage Area or Woowookarung Regional Park and get a glimpse of what Ballaarat looked like before the buildings. Both parks are only 5km from the CBD.

Keep an eye out for the signs of gold mining activities still scarring the land.
