TOP 27 – 10 QUESTIONS WITH BRAD GARDNER
1. Ever snuck into a gig, tell us who and how?
Plenty at the Uni Bar in Hobart back in late 90s. A good friend used to let us in the back door - TISM was a highlight.
2. What's the most wild gig you've ever been to?
Frenzal Rhomb at Uni Bar around the same time, my mate somehow made his way up to the rafters and was hanging down over most pit, fell, and broke his arm. Good times! 🤘
3. Your all time favourite festival?
BDO was always good (went to plenty in Sydney and Melbourne), but the very first Falls Festival that was held down at Marion Bay was a stand out, first of its kind and size hosted down home. Made more memorable by my mate who smuggled heaps of joints inside a BBQ 🐔
4. Time to fess up, what's your guilty music pleasure?
Mr John Denver
5. What's your go-to song when you need solitude or contemplation?
Anything off Grace by Jeff Buckley, fell asleep countless times listening to it on the discman. 💿
6. Time to time travel, who's be the band/artist you wish you had seen?
Refer question 5
7. Bucket list band, who are you dying to see? (haha)
Turnstyle who are playing in Melbourne soon (missed out last time), lots of energy required!
8. Choose one song on your list and tell us a little story about it, a memory, time in your life?
During primary school summer holidays, I used to join Dad on his work trips up the east coast of Tasmania, highlighted by seeing the live giant crabs in the aquarium at the sea life centre in Bicheno (now sadly closed). America (particularly Sister Golden Hair) was the soundtrack to these trips. 🦀
9. What's the song that breaks your heart or makes you cry?
It's not on the list (was #28), but Maggie by Foster and Allen. It brings back vivid memories of Christmas time at my grandparents. I also had to deliver a eulogy for Nanny Gwen and this song accompanied a photo montage right before I made my way to the lecturn. It will always get me right in the feels. 💔
10. Hey look at me I'm a Scenester question - who's the most famous muso you've ever met – do tell?
Josh Homme in Melbourne CBD during lunch break. Hot Chip stayed at same hotel once, and more recently Tim Rogers in the Virgin Lounge! ✈️
