The Barwon Heads Triathlon Course Description
Swim Leg - 400m
Boasting the Barwon Heads Bridge and the famous Diver Dans Boat House (from SeaChange) there could be no more idyllic location for the swim. Protected, calm, crystal, blue water invites all swimmers to enjoy the swim.
Not a strong swimmer? We’re going to make this easier for you! You will be swimming with the current! This could be your quickest 400m ever! The 400m swim starts on the sand near the ozone jetty. You will swim parallel with the shore-line, never more than 20m or so from the sand. Approximately 70m before the famous Barwon Heads Bridge you will take a right turn and head towards the shore.
Next, a short 30m jog in to transition, which is located in the carpark opposite the Barwon Heads Hotel.
Bike Leg - 14km
You will grab your bike and head out through Jetty Road turning left on to Ewing Blythe Drive aiming for the famous 13th Beach.
The bike leg is a 14km, out and back course. You will struggle to find a more scenic bike section as the ride takes in the famous “Cadel Evans” 13th Beach Road. The amazing views of the ocean, together with a flat and fast course will make this bike leg more enjoyable than painful!
Once back in transition you will only have the 4km run leg to complete.
Run - 4km
The run heads out over the Barwon Heads footbridge and picks up the trail path to Ocean Grove. It’s a beautiful fast, protected run amongst the coastal bushes and trees. Just before Ocean Grove you will do a u-turn and head back for Barwon Heads.
Back across the Barwon Heads footbridge and through the finish line to glory in front of the cheering crowd!
Drinks, food and massage will be available at the finish line.
If you’re still thirsty after the race the Barwon Heads Hotel, just over the road, will be the perfect place to quench your thirst whilst reminiscing over your race.
