What are some of my tips and hints to help when BUDGETING for your wedding florals?

🌺 Have a smaller WEDDING PARTY or no bridal party. Controversial I know BUT when the average wedding party consists of 4 bridesmaids and 4 groomsmen by FOCUSING on flowers for you and your partner only, you could save more than $1000.

🌷No PERSONAL florals like flower pins or wristlets but that being said, rather than bouquets for your bridesmaids, maybe consider flower pins or wristlets as a cool alternative.

🌼 Rather than spreading your flower budget over all of your wedding day, PICK AN AREA and then go from there. For example after your personals, if we focus on a KICK BUTT ceremony and choose the right floral designs, we can get WOW factor at your ceremony and then relocate these florals into your reception… DOUBLE THE WOW!

January 27th 2015…

This is when I decided to take the plunge and register my business.

So (I’m a day late) but yesterday marked 10 years of MeOhMy! Running a business has ups and downs but it has been a blast.

Thank you to my beautiful flower community for their constant help and support. Also to the most incredible couples who have picked and trusted MeOhMy to create blooms for their wedding days over the last 10 years.

How did my floristry PATH begin?

With a science degree and what seems like a lifetime ago, my working days started in a research laboratory as a trainee chemist. This is probably where my ‘enthusiasm’ for spreadsheets and organisation stems BUT it just wasn’t filling my cup anymore.

On the flip side, I had always enjoyed being CREATIVE and from primary school wanted to be an architect. My walk along the FLOWER PATH started in 2005 when my father-in-law passed. The quote “life’s short and tomorrow’s not promised” made so much sense. I enrolled in TAFE and my career changing flower TRAINING began.

Over the following 9 years, I became a QUALIFIED floral designer and after completing TAFE, gained experience in both retail and event work... especially WEDDINGS.

In 2014 MeOhMy was born from the desire to work to live, not live to work. My daydream to be my own boss and run a small business finally become real.

Today I am THANKFUL for…

🪻Flower market trip with a buddy to keep me awake on my adventures home.

🏠 A day to catchup in the home, so my week ahead is smooth sailing.

Why are BUD VASES so popular with our couples and why we LOVE them?

1… FUNCTIONAL - bud vases work great for share platters or feasting menus, while also leaving space to alternate with candles.

2… PERSONAL - bud vases can completely alter the vibe of the day. By changing the vase and flower choices, they will convey the feeling of your wedding day. For example, mismatched vases and floaty blooms give an eclectic, vintage feel BUT matching clean lined vases and anthurium give a modern, luxurious feel.

3… BUDGET FRIENDLY - bud vases are a more affordable option compared to table centres. For an individual touch, we love to alternate between bud vases and table centres.

4… AESTHETIC - for a bountiful and romantic reception aesthetic, plan on lots of bud vases, OR for a more simplistic, minimalistic aesthetic, have less vases.

5… VERSATILE - bud vases work on both round or long rectangular tables. Either clustered or running down the centre, bud vases are always a hit!

For Kate and Nathan we had various glass bud vases filled with flower posies, metal tube vases with single rose stems, stunning linen and soft flickering candles for a warm, romantic, luxe feel. Save for inspiration!

We are OFFICIALLY into our second week of 2025!

Twenty twenty four was one of our more MEMORABLE years in business and home life. The wedding industry however, has felt the increase in cost of living and the first half of 2025 is looking slower than usual. But like Covid, we’ll ride the wave, get more creative and approach things with a fresh eyes.

The last few weeks have been spent ENJOYING family and friends, lazy summer days, picnics and bike rides. I’ve been slowly sorting through the Studio space, responding to emails and preparing for a DELIGHTFUL year ahead.

Delivery, setup and pack down costs are dependent on your locations and will be itemised in your proposal.

HNY… 2024 was MAGNIFICENT!
Thank you to all my wonderful COUPLES, industry FRIENDS and most of all my FREELANCERS and the world’s best HUSBAND. Creating flowers brings me so much joy and I couldn’t make DREAMS come true without your belief, help, LOVE and support x

The question I CANNOT ANSWER as your florist...

QUESTION… When will you know what flowers you’ll be using for our wedding?
🦎
ANSWER... Honestly, the week of your wedding after I’ve been to the flower market, is the only time I know exactly what flowers I will be designing with.
🦎
WHY... because flowers are natural and like the weather, unpredictable. I know that peonies are available in November but I cannot predict which peony for a specific day and although that flower was available the same time the previous year, that doesn’t mean it will be available the following year.
🦎
SO... although I will always ask for your favourite or sentimental flower and include if possible, I will never promise a specific bloom. The things I WILL PROMISE are colours, aesthetics and confidence that whatever I create you will ADORE!
