Lost & Rare Trades Fair: founded to support and promote traditional trades, heritage skills and forgotten crafts and the dedicated artisans who continue to practise them as a career.
The Lost & Rare Trades Fair was founded on the principle that people are fascinated when artisans and craftspeople openly demonstrate their skills and share their knowledge. Traditional crafts, trades and industries that once were the backbone to building our country and regional towns, have gone and been often forgotten or overlooked in the wake of new technology.
OUR MISSION: To acknowledge and promote fine craftsmanship, traditional skills, rare trades and decorative arts.
VISION: Promote artisans pursuing traditional trades as a career with authenticity and an integrity that validates what they do and acknowledges their dedication to preserving and passing on traditional skills and knowledge. Provide a platform for true career artisans to share their skills and demonstrate their trades to an audience that is genuinely interested and engaged.
THE FAIR: The Fair promises to deliver an event experience that is authentic, real and retains the integrity on which it was founded. The Lost & Rare Trades Fair exists because of these artisans and will continue to celebrate their extraordinary talents, passion and excellence in craftsmanship. The Lost & Rare Trades Fair brand team are privileged to have earned the trust of many of Australiaβs finest artisans and have a continued responsibility to deliver an event that is worthy of their skills and dedication to their craft.
GOALS
Lost & Rare Trades Fair was established to:
act as a guardian to arcane trades that have tradition at their foundation and to sustain and promote these crafts and skills rather than simply preserve them;
unite traditional crafters specialising in field crafts, workshop crafts, home and household crafts;
showcase human talents and inspire the next generation to embrace hand skills;
be inclusive of all trade disciplines and all mediums ( metal, stone, wood, glass, cloth, etc)
