Welcome 2025.

The thoughts and words of William Morris ( 1834 - 1896 ) seem as relevant today as when they were written and appropriate to consider at this time that we start a new year.

Designer, poet, artist, writer and social activist, championing the Arts and Crafts Movement, Morris advocated treating workers fairly, paying above the rates to his staff and helping in their artistic and educational development - and supporting local production.

These quotes from writers born in the 1800's were found in a book The Creative Craftsman by John Farleigh. Printed in London in 1950, the book with its worn red linen cloth binding and gold lettered spine was found in a store in country Victoria in 2022; sometimes you have to look at the past to see the future.

We hope that you can find inspiration in 2025 and look forward to seeing you at The Lost Trades Fair. 🎟️Tickets + info www.losttrades.com.au

"I see myself as someone who likes to facilitate people's dreams"
This perfectly sums up toy maker Tim Schloss who has been part of our Lost Trades family for close to a decade; and features in the latest Country Style Magazine. Thank you for visiting Lost Trades in March and for your wonderful support of regional Australian makers, who work at what they love, and like Tim will make many little dreams come true this Christmas.

Our Story

Lost & Rare Trades Fair: founded to support and promote traditional trades, heritage skills and forgotten crafts and the dedicated artisans who continue to practise them as a career.

The Lost & Rare Trades Fair was founded on the principle that people are fascinated when artisans and craftspeople openly demonstrate their skills and share their knowledge. Traditional crafts, trades and industries that once were the backbone to building our country and regional towns, have gone and been often forgotten or overlooked in the wake of new technology.

OUR MISSION: To acknowledge and promote fine craftsmanship, traditional skills, rare trades and decorative arts.

VISION: Promote artisans pursuing traditional trades as a career with authenticity and an integrity that validates what they do and acknowledges their dedication to preserving and passing on traditional skills and knowledge. Provide a platform for true career artisans to share their skills and demonstrate their trades to an audience that is genuinely interested and engaged.
