This is a gorgeous little Ghost Carpet python from my chimera pairing.

She was a slow starter and now she's finally decided that rats are indeed food🤣

Pet Names & Their Backstories!

Ever wonder about the stories behind our pets' names?

I'm kicking off a new series to dive into just that: "What is your pet named after?"

For our first installment, let's meet Saphira, the green tree monitor!

She's named after the magnificent dragon Saphira from Christopher Paolini's Eragon and The Inheritance Cycle. For those unfamiliar, The Inheritance Cycle is a bestselling fantasy series that follows a boy named Eragon and his dragon, Saphira, as they try to overthrow a dark king (one of my favourite novel series of all time)

What's your pet named after?

In honor of Jurassic World Rebirth releasing, let's do something abit different...

Tell me your favourite dinosaur!

For many of us, dinosaurs probably started your love for reptiles. It certainly was the case for me. In particular it was the Spinosaurus in Jurassic Park 3 that started my obsession for dinosaurs and reptiles.

Say what you will about Spinosaurus but I love the scientifically accurate designs and the Jurassic park 3 design.

What's your favourite dinosaur?

After 3 days of moving animals we have finally moved them all🤣

Saphira was not a happy camper to be in a bag for 2 days😬

All animals are happy now that we have moved. Now I gotta set up the rest of the house!

Start of a very long day moving the reptiles to the new house!

Its times like this when I'm glad I worked with my lace monitors!
Cyprus and Daisy both were pretty calm while getting put into moving containers.

They are only going to be in these containers for a max of 2 hours.

She does have some spinal kinks which don't effect her, she doesn't tail hang.
Very defensive though, hence the terrible photos🤣

It's time I put this up for sale!

Open to offers

Built it a few years ago these are the features:

-5m L x 2m W x 1.8m Tall.
-Full concrete rock wall on the back and sides with various levels for basking.
-2 hot spots (each has 3 ceramic fittings on each side)
-Full mesh roof
-65L pond on one side
-Termite mound nest box (has incubated a clutch of lace monitors when I didn't even know she laid!)

Cons:
-She is HEAVY. Like 1.5 tonnes.
Does have wheels, however one wheel has already buckled under the weight (didn't plan on having concrete as thick as it is)

I am about to move house and the lace monitors are getting a 9m x 5m aviary, so I dont really need this enclosure anymore and it might be suited to someone else looking at giving their lace monitors a nice big enclosure.

The way I was going to move it:
I was going to tear down the concrete and use a flat bed truck to move it. Or you could probably use some heavy duty trolleys to move it.

I spent over 5k building it, but I know I won't get close to that.

Send me an offer, need it gone by the 24th of June or I'm keeping it.

Announcement!

The Brisbane Reptile Society Inc. is excited to announce our Annual General Meeting (AGM)!

Join us on Friday, June 13th at 5:00 PM in the Function Room at the Brighton Hotel, located at 196 Brighton Terrace, Brighton QLD 4017.

This year's AGM is particularly important as we'll be discussing a potential name change for the society. The aim is to better reflect and incorporate all captive animals covered under our native wildlife license.

We will be holding a vote on two proposed new names:

- Brisbane Captive Wildlife Society Inc.
- Brisbane Wildlife Society Inc.

We will also be outlining what we want the Society to focus on in the next year. We encourage all members to attend and have their say on these significant decisions.

Food platters will be provided.

Entry:
- Free for all members.
- $5 for non-members.

Please RSVP so we can finalize catering numbers/dietary requirements.

We look forward to seeing you there!
