This IWD, we are looking at ways to improve visibility, awareness, and fundraising for the women in our lives facing gynaecological cancers. Bolted raises funds to support research to improve the outcomes of the lives of those impacted by these insidious cancers, all thanks to Jane Grealy, who has tirelessly worked to promote the cause and effect change.

If you saw Jane’s Portrait of Professor Andreas Obermair, it is another example of doing what you can with what you have! Jane captured the moment her surgeon explained her results were ovarian cancer and how that moment made time stand still. It is an all too common experience for women facing the realities of gynaecological health, as the disease is very underfunded and statistically impacts so many women we know and love. The portrait is now sitting in the foyer of UQ’s research facility for QCGC, and raised an amazing $23,000 for Gynaecological cancer research 👏🏼👏🏼👏🏼👏🏼👏🏼

Essential research is needed to understand and treat the gynaecological cancers experienced by women, and QCGC is at the forefront of that challenge. As a determined group, the Cherish Women's Cancer Foundation raised $150,000 for funding vital, life-changing clinical trials and medical research for gynaecological cancer.

"In September 2023, our inspirational and dedicated team of 10 trekkers took on the ultimate challenge. After months of preparation, training, breaking in new boots, vaccinations, visas, and fundraising, they met in Moshi, Tanzania to prepare for their adventure.
Trekking the Rongai route, the only trail approaching Kilimanjaro from the north, close to the Kenyan border, our team marvelled at the scenery and wildlife, camped beneath starry skies and forged life-long friendships with both their fellow trekkers and devoted guides and porters." — Cherish

The most effective way to change the odds of gynaecological cancers impacting the ones you love is to donate to research. With no early detection test yet available, we need to make sure the people and places that are doing all they can to find one are supported through research funding and awareness. Join us at our events throughout the year to put your money somewhere important, which will really make a difference for those impacted by cancer.

2022 saw a whopping 🤑 $29.144 billion (an increase of $1.910 billion or 7 per cent from 2020–2021) spent on animal-based gambling 🤑 😳

We are imagining a future where statistics like that are showing increasing trends for supporting charities with real impact 🤞🏼🤞🏼🤞🏼

Bolted Events are focussed on transforming the traditional Melbourne Cup lunch into a new celebration that takes the best of the old — fun, fashion, food, wine — and transforming it into a unique, ethical and charitable event that raises much needed funds for RSPCA(Qld) and women’s cancer through QCGC Research.

We have raised over a whopping $150,000 for the organisations, and we are so proud to be continuing our efforts again this year.

Did you know?

Our founder Jane began Bolted Events as a way to create an opportunity to focus less on spending excessively on the Melbourne Cup and emphasise the good that money can do when put towards more deserving organisations. Her love of animals, great and small, was the obvious choice to partner with RSPCA, and women's gynaecological cancer research is a cause very close to her heart. As an ovarian cancer survivor, Jane knows firsthand how important public awareness is and also how desperately research funding is needed.

Bolted Events is now in its 4th year of operation, and we are thrilled you're here to celebrate doing good!

The Cherish Women Kimberley Trek: How will your donation help? 🙋🏽‍♀ You’ll be helping the 6,500 women and girls diagnosed with gynaecological cancer each year and their families. 1. 100% of the money raised will support research that improves survival rates, treatments and ways to detect and prevent gynaecological cancer. There are successful research trials that have changed how doctors treat patients and which would never have started without fundraising support. Currently, research trials in uterine, ovarian and vulval cancer need funding. These projects will address impactful research problems, some of which have been unsolved for more than 30 years. 2. You and Cherish will raise awareness that saves lives. The more women know about this disease and its symptoms, the more likely they are to see their doctor if something’s not right. Awareness will help prevention. 3. You’ll show your support to women and girls across the world. Unlike breast cancer, gynaecological cancer is not well-known or understood. Often women diagnosed with it face unnecessary stigma and embarrassment.
