We are all so excited for Saba Abraham, the inspiration, founder and tireless worker here at Mu'ooz. She is 1 of 10 everyday Australians chosen to represent 26 million of us at the Queen's Funeral in London on Monday.

Queensland Local Hero award winner Saba Abraham is one of 10 'everyday Australians' invited to Queen Elizabeth II's funeral in London.

Ms Abraham is the founder and manager of not-for-profit Mu'ooz Eritrean Restaurant & Catering in West End, and will attend the service as a guest of Prime Minister Anthony Albanese and Governor-General David Hurley.

Australia's guests also include Australian of the Year Dylan Alcott and horse trainer Chris Waller.

Our Story

To date, Mu’ooz has given work experience, training and employment to over 160 Africa refugee women!

In May 2003, Mu'ooz social enterprise was founded by a group of refugee women from war-turn Eritrea and surrounding African countries. 15 years later, and now located in trendy West End, Brisbane, Mu'ooz Restaurant & Catering continues to provide employment and traineeships for African refugee women giving specialised on-the-job training, building confidence and breaking down cultural and language barriers which impede social integration. For women who have suffered traumatic experiences of war and poverty and have had little opportunity in education in their life, Mu'ooz gives both employment and new opportunities that help in the healing process.
