On Sunday I walked the Runway for the Brisbane Festival Be Iconic Event. I made a Sea Inspired Dried Floral Headpiece that included small pieces of Ghost Net that was found on the beach by the Gulf of Carpanteria. The Inclusive Event had a number of Brisbane Locals imagining, designing, creating and modelling designs for this amazing event held at the Southbank Piazza on Sunday afternoon. I focussed mine on a ‘Care for the Ocean and Marine Life’ Theme. Flowers, Fashion, Creativity, Community, Inclusion, Music, Runway, fun!

Botanical Barbie by Mikeala Fleur Patterson Floral Design Competition! Waxflower, Banksia, Hakea and Anahaw leaves. I handmade the design, stitching Anakaw leaves to my Barbie skirt from Dotti Bodice from . I used wire from Swann Agencies to form the base for my hair piece, shoulder piece and tulle jacket. I dissected the Banksia and added to my pink glasses. I made Barbie Botanical Balls encased in tulle to add to headpiece. I used the Banksia and Hakea Peach to form a new Botanical wonder. A liitle gratitude competition to celebrate my 20 years in the Brisbane Florist Industry, how time flies. I remember purchasing from Swann Agencies when they were at West End, my daughter not yet one when I carried her into Tesselaar Flowers as I began my studies at Southbank TAFE to become a florist. I began work experience with Tony Bunting at Madonnas Lily at Holland Park where I was then employed. I then began my journey in my own little business as I balanced motherhood and further study. My middle name is Fleur so perhaps I was destined, playing amoungst the Hydrangeas, Dahlias and Sweet Peas as a child. As a teenager I attended floristry courses and when I travelled to live in London I visited many floral exhibitions seeing Paula Pryke demonstrate at Alexander Palace for IFTEX. A breakfast tour with florists in Industry at the Covent Garden Flower Markets and the Interflora Show in Islington. I will always love flowers and being a florist. Little competition for my local community where I am based - please like, share and comment below about why you enjoy the designs I create, I have a little bouquet to gift for the comment that inspires me the most and resonates for me on my floristry journey moving forward.
