Jaqueline .t.speaks wanted a classic elegant gown which would reflect the style of wedding she and her fiancé were planning at beautiful Customs House in April this year. Silk Mikado in a full skirt with ruched off the shoulder collar fitted that brief! However she also wanted it to have a touch of “glam”, and so a leg split, with layers of ostrich feathers topped with a silver beaded trim around the hem did just that!

When Tayla and her lovely mum Margaret came to see me to discuss her wedding dress, she was really keen to have a style which acknowledged her Grandmother’s dress, but was still modern. She also wanted to dance the night away! Italian Duchess satin, in a full pleated 3/4 length skirt, a bodice with a tulle V insert, a ruched tulle jacket, and a short Pearl veil gave her the modern take on 50’s vintage she was looking for. The result was classic elegance at its best!

Arielle was one of my beautiful March brides this year when she married her wife (who also looked fab but I can’t claim any credit for her dress!) Arielle chose a stunning 3D flower beaded tulle to create her fabulous gown. I had to include a photo of the bridal party to show the gorgeous mix of styles and colours!

Caitlin and my journey began around 10 months ago as she was adamant she didn’t want a plain off-white wedding dress and showed me her inspo pictures of coloured printed dresses. I knew I would need to get the fabric especially made, and thanks to the fantastic team I was able to bring to life her stunning vision of her wedding dress, with its gorgeous whimsical pattern. Caitlin chose an ivory silk /viscose for me to make her fun reception dress to dance the night away!

Sophie had a clear idea of what she wanted to wear for her March wedding this year. A layered full tulle skirt, lightly ruched bodice, oh and it had to be pink! I carefully dyed each layer a slightly different colour of pink, so it would add the interest and depth of colour without being stark or too bright! The colour perfectly complimented Sophie’s pale complexion and added to her romantic look!

With Maddi’s home outside Injune and the wedding being held on her family’s property outside Tamworth, it was a long drive to visit me for dress fittings! She knew she wanted something which felt uniquely “her”, but what exactly did that look like? Like many brides she was torn between a full skirt and a slim sleek skirt. In the end she had both! With not a lot of time, (she and Tom had been living in the US), many phone calls and a few bodice style changes and a few skirt silhouette changes we worked together to create her perfect dress; midriff bodice with full silk organza skirt for that “bridal feel”, and a hidden sleek, slim fit silk satin skirt underneath revealed for the party after!

Jess was the epitome of a “relaxed bride” as these beautiful photos show! She wanted elegance and comfort (and of course pockets), in a dress she didn’t have to “fuss”with on the day to be the basis of her wedding look! Her full skirt and silk faille fitted top were made to look like a skirt and top, but to make it easy to wear, it was in fact a dress!

I was approached some time ago about this beautiful lace appliqué dress, and as has happened over the last couple of years there were a few delays, but that time allowed a change or two (the tulle train was a fabulous addition), and the end result is just stunning!

Melissa and her fiancé Ben planned a super fun party for their recent wedding! She was looking for an unembellished dress without a train (silk satin for dress), so it would be easy to manage, but wanted the drama of a train for the ceremony. A detachable train in silk satin organza gave her the light yet dramatic look she was after, and a beaded belt added some sparkle!

With the current trend towards unembellished gowns, Kelly like many brides, had a vision of something sleek and simple but with a twist! Silk crepe gave her the sleek skirt, organza sleeves with a beaded lace cuff, and an organza panel in the back provided the twist, and a beaded belt added some sparkle!

Naomi contacted me “aeons” ago, I think when she and Lauren were first beginning to plan their wedding. Then Covid happened, (a couple of venue changes and a couple of years delay,)then Brisbane had floods, (venue flooded), so finally in August this year I got to readjust their outfits to fit so these two fab people could get at last married!

I am often asked about repurposing a Mother’s or Gandmother’s wedding dress for a bride. In many cases the quality or condition of the dress is not suitable (stains, holes) for repurposing, or simply it is not possible to create the look the bride wants from the fabric or cut of the original style.
So when Bree came to me with her Grandmother’s dress asking if/how I could use it create her dress, I jumped at the chance! She was open to options and we decided the skirt was very usable but needed a new top/bodice to complete the stunning glam look she wore for her relaxed wedding beside the Brisbane River in August this year!

When Claire came to discuss dress possibilities she had a fairly clear idea of what she wanted. Elegant, clean (no embellishments) simple and easy to wear! Silk crepe with silk organza bishop sleeves fitted her brief perfectly! As with most dresses there were some details she added then removed and then added (the bow)!

I like to think the dresses I make are as individual and diverse as the brides I make them for! Acacia loves vintage, so it was no surprise her inspiration picture was an evening dress from Pierre Balmain circa 1950-55. She was super excited when I said I believed it was indeed possible but we would need the help of the fantastic team to do the bespoke embroidery. Acacia changed the style of the feature motive to be more relevant to her, and we worked together to make various details suit her figure, and still meet her vision. The result was truely amazing!

Like most people who come to have a dress made, Estelle had tried on many dresses in shops to get an idea of what she liked. She knew she wanted a full skirt but didn’t want the “heaviness” of many she had tried. I knew silk satin organza was the answer! Having a dress custom made means you can have a dress which is individual to your own style. My journey with my beautiful bride Chrissy began many months ago with a meeting where she showed me a group of pictures of wedding dresses, depicting various elements she liked, and wanted to combine in a way which suited her wedding vision.
We worked together over a few months, with each fitting often requiring some style adjustments to produce the stunning dress she envisioned!
