Its the anniversary of the campaign that bought Brisbane's first community owned food hub to fruition, and being that its Social Enterprise Day 2024, we wanted to give a shout out to our community and our careholders that made it possible.

Nikki’s four lived stories illustrate how nuanced freedom is. From Saving a life at 17 to being in charge of West End flood relief in the 74 Brisbane floods to then integrating 200 newly arrived kids from an African refugee camp into her ‘white” school- FREEDOM has taught her many things.

🌱 Annual General Meeting & Vision for 2025 at Food Connect Shed! 🌱

The Food Connect Shed Annual General Meeting on October 20th was a tremendous success, showcasing key achievements and laying out plans for the future. Following the AGM, participatory visioning and sharing through playback theatre by Red Thread Stories, led into a delicious Spring Harvest Dinner celebrated our tenants over locally produced food supplied by Echo Valley Farms and Sovereign Foods and catered by Hope on Boundary Café (by Micah Projects). With lively conversations and a sense of optimism for 2025, you can see our AGM's are anything but boring!

We’re excited to introduce three new directors to our board: Rebecca Edmonds, Sarah Cooper and Benjamin Knight. They will bring valuable perspectives to the Shed as we continue our mission to build a community-driven and resilient food system.

A big thank you to our outgoing directors, Geoff Ebbs and Deanna Borland-Sentinella, for their dedication and invaluable contributions to the Shed community.

As we prepare for 2025, we need YOU to help drive the Shed’s ambitious goals! Join a Standing Committee or Working Party to be part of the action:

✨ Finance & Revenue – Develop strategies for financial resilience
✨ Strategy & Sustainability – Guide our long-term community impact
✨ Buildings & Operations – Improve facilities for our community
✨ Community Development – Build partnerships and impactful programs

We’re also forming Working Parties for project-based roles focused on events, programs, and initiatives that make the Shed a thriving hub of sustainability and connection.
