ON MY TABLE - Hyacinths😊 People often ask what my favourite flowers are - and I’d have to say it changes with the seasons for sure. At the moment, Hyacinths are my favourite with their subtle vanilla custard fragrance, and very long lasting flowers. 🙌🏼 Here are my tips for hyacinths😊
👍🏻 remove the leaves carefully, to expose the fleshy stems.
👍🏻 save the leaves if you want to add them into your vase as a filler.
👍🏻 very small amount of water in the vase so that the stems don’t get mushy
👍🏻 Pair hyacinths with other simple non-leafy flowers. I like to pair them with dendrobium orchids or sweetpeas

Cymbidium Season in full swing 💯 care tips below ⬇️
1. Orchid stems love the occasional bath… fully submerged under water for a few hours.
2. Cymbidiums also grow as indoor pot plants and require weekly watering and good drainage. The flowering stage lasts about 3-4 months. Then the pots can be put out in the garden till the next flowering season.
3. The flowers on each stem can be cut off and used separately in smaller arrangements - we prefer to cut at the big stem rather than cutting each bloom away from the stem if we are doing this! The blooms last longer, and you can have more than one bloom per cut.
4. To display an exquisite stem - we recommend a bottle type vase - and we have repurposed our favourite single malt whiskey bottles and for this purpose!

This Passover will be very difficult for families in Israel and for many families here in our neighbourhood with relatives on the other side of the world facing the challenges of a serious war and a very real existential threat. We are praying for the release of the Israeli hostages and for peace to prevail. 🌺
On Sunday and Monday at the shop, we will be handing out 134 RED ROSES to place in your homes to symbolise each of the remaining hostages. Please come and take one.

ZINNIAS - in season now🌸 tips below⬇️⬇️
* Check that the leaves are crisp and dry to ensure freshness
* Zinnias have hollow stems and should be handled carefully to avoid cracking.
* Be careful to only use a small amount of water in the case for zinnias. They last much longer this way.
* keep in a cool and draft free area
* zinnias pair well with ferns, dahlias, queen annes lace, and natives too.

If you still need flowers for xmas, we are at the shop on Saturday and Sunday but I’d advise you call to place an order - as although some people may be awe-struck by our magic flower-wrangling skills, we can’t make flowers appear out of thin air! Living succulent wreath☺️ Our coastal location inspired this one.
This wreath ring is made in-house from soft willow and shaped into a wreath shape, tied and secured into the circular ring, and then dried for a week or so to harden up in the shape. We then wired some succulents and attached them to the wreath with fresh spagnum moss to finish off this design. After xmas, the wreath can be left outdoors, and the succulents will continue to flower and grow.

Monster Artichokes! These are supplied to us from our private farm drop supplier and they are a huge hit! They are lasting around a month in a vase, and look stunning on the kitchen bench in a statement vase.

Our weekly/fortnightly house flower service is not just a slick online subscription form where everyone signs up and gets the same thing. We actually consult with our clients at their homes, look at the space, look at the art, furnishings and home style, and then design the weekly drop around their taste and preferences, always giving consideration to the environment that the flowers are going into. Call Debbi to discuss on 8367 4976.
When we do our regular weekly/fortnightly house clients, we like to include a variety of flowers that will fade out over time at different stages🌿 so every few days, remove the withered flowers, and recut the remaining ones and downsize your vase - or separate the blooms into smaller vases that can be placed around the house in different spots👏🏻you’ll be surprised how long your flowers will continue to bring you joy if you look after them🌸and before you know it, we are there with the fresh delivery.

FOLLOW THE WATTLE on its journey! In this reel, if you look carefully, you can follow the journey of a big bundle of wattle coming in fresh from the market in the morning and how it ends up in beautiful bouquets, leaving the shop that very same day! The process of unloading, and unpacking all the flowers from the market and ensuring that they are safely processed and conditioned and get into clean vases and buckets without delay, is very frantic… But also very exciting as we unpack and discover what mother nature has given us!
BLOSSOM SEASON has started☺️ Best blossom tips below….⬇️⬇️ 1. Buy the blossoms when when the buds are fresh and starting to open. 2. You can tell the freshness when you see pale green casings on each bud. 3. Blossoms that are all tightly closed will probably not open up - they’ve been in refrigeration/coolroom storage too long. 4. Blossoms will keep flowering in the vase as long as you change the water every 2-3 days, shake off the old blossoms, and re-cut the stems. The buds keep growing. 5. When the budding stage has finished, you’ll see green leafy shoots coming out on the blossom sticks…. (if you’ve followed step 4…). 6. You can expect to get endless enjoyment from your blossoms if you follow these steps - for at least 4-6 weeks or longer!
