🎄 140th Budgeree Christmas Tree – What a Night! 🎄

What an absolute cracker of a celebration. Budgeree turned on the charm yet again with balmy weather, a tasty BBQ dinner, and the unbeatable joy of gathering together for our 140th Christmas Tree. Borderline had us singing, dancing, and laughing our way through the evening, and of course we enjoyed a proper traditional Budgeree supper to top it all off.

And then… SANTA!
Let’s just say the sleigh must’ve had a mechanical issue or a reindeer rebellion, because he arrived in full style — lights blazing — courtesy of the local police. A grand entrance if ever there was one.

A huge thank you to everyone who came along and made the night so special. These events shine because of the people who show up with heart, humour, and holiday spirit.

🌟 Special shout-outs:
• Helen, John and Imogen – absolute champions on the barbie all night
• Our kitchen crew – endless plates of delicious delights, as always
• Luke and James – raffle wranglers and payment pros
• Cindy – for curating raffle prizes that everyone wanted to win
• Santa – for bringing a sack full of joy (and a police es**rt)
• Borderline – you were brilliant, and yes, we’ll definitely be having you back… even if some of us are still recovering from the Hokey Pokey
• Karen – the best shopper in the business

We had a lovely visit from Russell from the CFA, Rosemary from Emergency Management Latrobe City and Matt from Vic Police today. They shared with us ways to help us be informed to make the best decisions in an emergency.
They brought morning tea and show bags. We have a few show bags left for anyone who attends the Budgeree Christmas Tree on Saturday night starting at 6pm.

🌿 Remembering Daisy Hall 🌿

The Budgeree community is saddened to share the passing of Daisy Hall, a cherished resident whose life was deeply woven into the fabric of our district. Daisy moved onto the Hall family farm when she married Ross Hall in 1958, and from then on became an active and caring presence in Budgeree.

She gave her time, helping on the farm, serving on the school parents committee and offering her skills as a nurse, often helping neighbours in need of medical care. Daisy’s kindness and commitment touched many lives over the decades.

Daisy is lovingly remembered by her four children — Russell, Dianne, Matthew, and Leanne — along with her twelve grandchildren and six great‑grandchildren.

🕊️Funeral details below . 🕊️

It is with deep sadness that we share the passing of our beloved mother, Daisy Hall, who left us peacefully on Tuesday morning. Our family was blessed to spend precious time with her in her final days.

We extend our heartfelt thanks to the staff at Heritage Manor for their care, kindness, and compassion.

A funeral service will be held on Monday, December 15 at 1:30pm at the Boolarra Co‑Operating Church, Tarwin Street, Boolarra, followed by a wake at the Budgeree Hall.

For those unable to attend in person, the service will also be live streamed. Please follow the link on the website to join us virtually.
