What a weekend of celebration, fun and laughter! Being a semi finalist in the was truely special. Also being in a room with so many other special people, who are supporting their regional communities!!

One community group really made an impact on me and what they do. Hoping to donate items to support the children.

The is one of my favourite projects. Bringing it to Bunbury and the South West takes months of planning and countless hours behind the scenes. From writing grants and building partnerships, to managing schedules, logistics, programming, marketing and coordination, every detail matters.

I also make time to meet with Japanese students online, join in their dances at events, and embrace the culture in ways that make our international guests feel truly welcome. There’s a lot that goes on behind the scenes that most people never see, but it’s all worth it to create a festival that feels seamless, authentic, and full of joy.

This festival is about celebrating culture, creating opportunities for youth, supporting local businesses, and showing off the South West to a diverse audience. Seeing the community come together, sharing experiences, and connecting through culture makes all those behind-the-scenes hours worthwhile.

Follow along as we continue building this event and celebrating culture, community, and connection across Bunbury and the South West.

Countless hours poured into the behind-the-scenes magic, and every bit of it has been worth it. Watching the festival blossom from a local celebration to gaining international love is a true reflection of your brilliance, dedication, and heart.

We’ve ridden waves of emotion and creativity together — and through it all, we’ve helped weave a beautiful space for community to gather, connect and celebrate the richness of Japanese culture.
