The South West Japan Festival is one of my favourite projects.
Bringing it to Bunbury and the South West takes months of planning and countless hours behind the scenes. From writing grants and building partnerships, to managing schedules, logistics, programming, marketing and coordination, every detail matters.
I also make time to meet with Japanese students online, join in their dances at events, and embrace the culture in ways that make our international guests feel truly welcome. There’s a lot that goes on behind the scenes that most people never see, but it’s all worth it to create a festival that feels seamless, authentic, and full of joy.
This festival is about celebrating culture, creating opportunities for youth, supporting local businesses, and showing off the South West to a diverse audience.
Seeing the community come together, sharing experiences, and connecting through culture makes all those behind-the-scenes hours worthwhile. Especially when i get to create with the beautiful Lauren from Studio42, what a dream duo!!
