🌈 Sand Art Workshops 🌈

Perfect activity for ages 4 and up, they choose a picture, peel the sticker and sprinkle coloured sand!

Once all covered and complete, they are left with a colourful masterpiece to take home!

Children learn lots of transferable skills and benefits such as concentration, creativity, colour awarenesss, imagination, patience and mindful mediation!

The South West Japan Festival was invited to join the ‘Eco Expo’ at BREC last night. We shared a Japanese tradition called ‘Furoshiki’ which is
a square piece of cloth that has been used for wrapping for over 1200 years in Japan.
The word Furoshiki came about during the Edo period (1603 - 1868) when cloths were commonly used in bath-houses to wrap clothes and also used as a bath mat. We will be hosting workshops with Lisa during our festival.

We then enjoyed the show Black Sun/Blood Moon produced by Critical Stages- so much to think about and many emotions felt watching.

Also got to visit the new Gage Roads Freo to dance along with The Coconut Carnys watching the boats come in at Fremantle port 🚢

Our tree 🌲 is up and looks beautiful, although it feels like I only just put it away in the shed just the other month!

We started this year off, after an intense couple of years and then this year has just flown by!

Hope you all have a safe and Merry Christmas with your family and friends!

Remember to breathe and don’t put too much pressure on yourself, during the festivities.

It’s been an awesome year with events and we’ve worked and with the so many small businesses in the community!

My heart is so full after receiving such a special thoughtful gift handmade by mum.

Last night we shared a special dinner with some of the students, before they return home. This gift was handmade and is one of a kind The intricate design is so lovely 🌸

have 130 student from .international to study English abroad here in Perth and Bunbury. They volunteered to share origami and calligraphy for the people who attended in September 2022.

It was such an honour to have them involved and was even more special to meet them all!!

Managing the event South West Festival of Japan has really been an event that inspires and brings joy to the community, local and afar.

Seagift 2022 is a collection of stories and poems that circle the theme of joy. The collection moves from joy-riding the streets of Armadale to the toothless grin of a baby to the joy of learning another language. Many of the stories and poems approach joy from the angle of sorrow, anger, or heartbreak. There is also joy in answered prayer, new beginnings, and even in uncertain endings.

This fresh creative writing journal is the publishing initiative of the Sheridan Institute. It features works by WA poets like Miriam Wei Wei Lo, historical writer Melinda Tognini, children's author T. C. Shelley, and many others (including me and Stephanie Felix)!
