Who are we....
Let us introduce ourselves, our names are Josh and Deanne Oakey and we are the owners of Supreme Chauffeur Driven Services. We began Supreme Chauffeur Driven Services in May 2011, after several discussions with FIFO workers in the South West, who were looking at an alternative to driving themselves to the airport at all hours of the day. A lot of these people are our friends and family, and it soon became apparent to us there is a demand for a personal service where they could relax and so could their families. The issue of fatigue management and pushing through tired spells at the wheel was coming through loud and strong. If you work in the industry you’ve probably had it drilled into you by now! We have two wonderful children Maddie (10) and Chase (7), while they keep us busy they also give us perspective on how hard the FIFO workers with family must do it. Being away from your children for a day is hard enough, we can only imagine what it must be like for those Dad’s and Mum’s who only see their kids on Skype for a whole month. We knew FIFO workers living in Perth and surrounds should have access to a better transport options than what they currently had. I was working as a sales rep for Bacardi at the time and was covering about 1000km a week – so the step into driving up and down the Forrest Highway wasn’t too difficult. Dee was working for a silicon plant in Bunbury, managing contractors and equipment so she has a small window into what life is like working for big industry. After carefully putting a business plan in place and acquiring our first vehicle we began transferring tired FIFO workers to and from Perth Airport. Clients were travelling with us were thrilled with service! The first 6 months were a learning process as we began to educate prospects on the dangers of self-commuting…more on that later. The following 6 months began to see our clients “bragging” to others about the service they were receiving and all of a sudden more FIFO professionals were coming to us to alleviate their ‘travel fatigue.’ Then came entire companies asking us to Chauffeur their entire FIFO workforce! It was an exciting change for us, to see our venture doing well, but more importantly, it was good to know companies could rely on us with their staff. In April 2012, we expanded the fleet to two! This was to keep up with the demand of busy change out days. Many companies and FIFO workers were finding the costs of Chauffeuring were less overall than the cost of using your own vehicle, fuel, parking, lost productivity and higher risk. We believe our service is not only more comfortable for FIFO workers…it literally saves lives, and makes those great FIFO salaries actually worth leaving home for!
