Vale Bill May 🕊️

This evening, as a mark of respect, drivers in Race 4 will wear black armbands in memory of Bill May.

Bill was a long-standing member of the club and local trainer.

Congratulations to Four Diamonds Pacing and the connections of MISS HEPBURN on winning the 2024 Western Australian Standardbred Breeders Association - WASBA Country Oaks.

A big thank you to Jeanine and Denise who attended the event on behalf of WASBA and presented the lovely trophy, rug and garland to the winning connections.

We look forward to hosting WASBA again on the 9th of November for the running of the Bob Humphries Memorial.

We’ve had some lovely fillies win the WASBA Country Oaks in the past like, My Prayer 2019 $214,297 (Barry Howlett), Sports Package 2020 $151,717 (Terry Ferguson), Bettor Beach Belle 2021 $137,622 (Terry Ferguson), Wonderful To Fly 2022 $742,476 (Shane Young), Flametree 2023 $163,318 - Barry Howlett.
As you can see all of those past winners have gone on to have very good if not excellent careers, so this race does have a good history.
We hope the weather holds out for this Saturday and we see another quality filly receive her rug and garland, and the owners a lovely trophy.
Aiden De Campo would seem to have two very likely contenders being Miss Hepburn 3w $94,784 and Copy Cat Queen 5w $43,112. Bazaar Package 5W $54,174 for Jocelyn Young is resuming and in barrier 2.
Overall a really good field of Westbred fillies with 5 last start winners and trainers Mike Williams Loch Tay and Maryann White Miss Knowall travelling down from Wundowie and York respectively.
