The next instalment of the Bert: Out of the archive series opens this week in the Lex Rowland Gallery. ✈✈

Bert: Out of the archive III - Test Pilot Days at Hamble will be on display from Friday 7 February to Saturday 3 May 2025 from 9am to 3pm. Entry to this exhibition is free. **

**Normal entry rates apply to the main exhibition hall and Hinkler House.

Our friends at Hinkler Hall of Aviation are commencing works on the verandah this week 🏠

Hinkler House will be closed to the public from Monday 10 February as work to replace the verandah begins. Unfortunately, sections have begun to deteriorate over time due to rot.

Key upgrades include:

🏠 Hardwood posts replicating the original decorative chamfered edges.
🏠 Repainting the verandah to match the existing colour scheme.
🏠 Salvaging and repurposing timber where possible.
🏠 Documenting the works, including the preparation of archival-quality photographic records.

For safety and efficiency, access to Hinkler House will be unavailable during the work, which is expected to take six weeks (pending weather). During this time visitors can explore its history via a virtual tour at the Hinkler Hall of Aviation. Rest assured, the renovations will comply with the local heritage character overlay code to ensure that the house maintains its cultural significance.
