It's been a huge month, and more - the preparations for Frocktober 2023 began at the start of this year for my flowers and fruit theme and I'm happy to say the hard work paid off with over $6500 raised for the Ovarian Cancer Research Foundation!
A huge thank you to the friends and family who helped, everyone who donated, bought brooches, came to events, provided venues, gave prizes, bought raffle tickets, sponsored events - I'm eternally gratefully!

Frocktober 2023 day 31 and it's spooooooky Halloween and the last day of my fruit and flower theme - yes pumpkins are technically a fruit!! It was my first attempt at carving a jack-o'-lantern and I was pretty happy with how it turned out. 🎃
I hope you've enjoyed all my frocked up efforts throughout the month for the Ovarian Cancer Research Foundation, it's been a big effort but worth it for a good cause - I'm very close to my $6500 goal so it's not too late to help tip me over!

I chose an Australian native because today I'm actually departing our shores, off on a trip to Mexico and Cuba!

I love these pretty blooms but they make such a mess! But that's OK, all good things must come to an end...

This is a magic spot in Romaine Reserve, surrounded by the sweet little blue flowers and manferns.

How stunning is this whole paddock full of them! I love spring when all the colour comes back to the landscape.

What a day! Thanks so much to everyone who came along and supported our Frocktober flower crown fundraising event for the Ovarian Cancer Research Foundation (OCRF) - I'm super excited to say we raised a bit over $2000!

Meet your hosts for Frocktober Flower Crown Fun on Saturday! Claire, Kitty and Jessy are excited to show you how to make your own pretty crowns using blooms donated by Dowling's Flowers.
The afternoon session has now sold out but we still have room in the morning if you'd like to join us. Bookings through www.trybooking.com/CMAZJ, closing Wednesday night.
There will also be some live music, refreshments, a raffle, frock sale and the chance to have your photo taken in the Emu Valley Rhododendron Garden.

Frocktober 2023 day 16 and as I've said before, I'm not the world's best gardener but I am a proud cactus mumma - so when my two biggest babies burst into flower I was so excited! 🌵
But you know what's a bigger prick? Ovarian cancer. Treatments haven't changed much in 30 years and there's still no screening test.

It's been an amazing few nights of Medieval Murder Mystery fun to raise money for the Ovarian Cancer Research Foundation - we're super excited to announce we ended up with a bit over $1000 to donate!! 🙌
Huge thanks to Shaz Inator for allowing us to take over the castle, Jessica Gardam for her fabulous hosting and organising and Lisa Mott for her invaluable help.
Also big shout out to Beauys Bottleshop and 9/11 Bottleshop Wynyard for donating wine and other supporters for their contributions.

My family has a strong connection to apple growing in Tasmania, originally in the Huon Valley - and it's fabulous to see my cousin Caro Chris W Brown carrying on the tradition at Brady's Lookout Cider up north!
They have a fabulous cellar door and regular stall at Harvest Launceston.

Frocktober 2023 day 14 and today's flower is tulips because it's the Wynyard Tulip Festival! 🌷
If only the weather was the same as when we popped up to the Table Cape Tulip Farm earlier in the week... We thought we wouldn't have time today because we'd planned to be at the festival selling raffle tickets for our fundraising for the Ovarian Cancer Research Foundation but sadly we had to cancel, so please get in touch if you'd like to buy some!

Frocktober 2023 day 13 and today's addition to my fruit salad of frocks is blueberries! 🫐
And while these little berries are a joyful burst of delicious flavour I am feeling a little blue... Fundraising is extra tough this year and while I am super grateful for the amazing support I have received, donations and contributions are well down on previous years.

How stunning is this display at Gawler Gardens ?! Those colours are 😍
For those on the North-West Coast they are best to visit early in the year to see them in full bloom.

Frocktober 2023 day 11 and the next addition to my fruit salad of frocks is grapes! 🍇
Although in this case it's more about consuming them in liquid form... 🍷
Thanks to Mathew Eastwood and 23 Rows vineyard & Tiny home Accommodation Lake Barrington Tasmania for letting me visit as they were harvesting earlier this year. Mat and West Park Grove IGA have been a great supporter of my fundraising events so check them out for not only their wine but the cute tiny home accommodation amongst the vines, with lovely views to the lake.

I'll be the first to admit that, as much as I love flowers, I am no green thumb! So the fact that this photo was taken in my own garden is amazing! And also the fact that these dietes grandiflora were transplanted from my late Grandma's garden makes them special too.
