Whaaaaat?

To me, flowers are these weiiiird and wonderful little ingredients that make up a unique recipe that is your event!

Flowers in their natural state, are buried in the earth and essentially stationary for the entirety of their lives. But when we look to meadows, sandy coast lines or your grannies front patio that are all covered in flowers. But if you look a little closer you’ll see that they are dancing back at you. Moving, playing and wiggling in the sun and wind.

Now I know this detail is teeeny tiny, that most people would miss, but to me, it’s huge.

Ultimately, I want FIKA flowers to mimic nature as much possible. I want to see your tablescapes dancing in the wind, and get kissed by the afternoon sun. I want your wedding to feel like it’s buzzing with life, despite the blooms being completely stationary tucked safely in their little vases or vessels.

Because, It’s the little things….right?

💍 GRACE AND JAYDEN 💍

Had the pleasure of bringing Graces floral dreams to life earlier this year. They were married in a sweet little church in Palm Beach then onto Moby Dicks at Whale Beach for reception. The day was so stunning - sunny and warm but not too hot!

THE BRIEF - A White/ Neutral theme with splashes of pinks and oranges

I decided pastels were the way to introduce colour here so that the palette stayed soft and elegant ✨ I wanted the bouquets to reflect the bride- beautiful, fun and unique! I kept them light in weight yet full with a variety of flower species making them whimsical and interesting to look at. I paired the bouquets with a premium satin ribbon that is dancing in all the photos ✨

This day was so special and such a breeze, and I loved being a part of it!

Whilst Fika is no longer is doing deliveries on this day, it still remains a day to honour the mummas out there! I hope you all got some beautiful flowers and are treated like the queens you are today!

There are a lotttttt of new faces on here now, so I thought I reintroduce myself! 👋🏽

✨I’m Molly, the face behind Fika ✨

A bit about me: I’m 26years old and I love the natural world more than anything. When I’m not flowering I’m either surfing, teaching (I teach Meditation and Himalayan Breathwork/Kriya ) studying, practising, adventuring and spending time with those I love the most!

In the busyness of this year I completely that In feb, my lil floral baby, Fika turned 3!

For the last 3 years I have spent my time building this brand into one that goes beyond the norms when it comes to outdated floristry techniques; namely using chemical ridden slave driven imported flowers, and using single use materials such as plastics/carcinogenic floral foam in my designs.

Ethical floristry regardless of the situation/event

I pride myself on brown paper, twine n’ wire baby of which I use over and over and over again!

I am a TRAVELLING florist, meaning I take myself, my van, and my beautiful blooms all up and down the east coast of Aus (and beyond!) to curate bespoke weddings and events….ethically!

I believe in EXPERIENCE, and enjoying this life as it is such a precious gift to have one! Each day we wake is another gift from the universe to live each and every moment in its entirety!

When the day comes, I want to leave this planet knowing that I spread love, joy, maybe a drop or two of wisdom…but most importantly, I wish to leave this planet in a better way than when I came here 🥰🍃🌎 doing my bit each and everyday!

✨DATURA APPRECIATION POST✨

These beauuuutiful trumpet shaped blooms are a medicinal plant that are associated with fever treatments, improved fertility, increased libido….whilst this all sounds amazing, be warned because this beauty is deadly.

Consumption is poisonous to our internal organs and is restricted in some countries. Supervision of an experienced medicine woman/man is a MUST when exploring this plant as medicine!

Heyyyyyy beautiful community!

Feels like forever since I’ve written something on my posts of late! My little business, which turned 3 just the other day, is growing in ways I had only ever dreamed!!!

Over the past 6 months I have been really reorienting my energy towards weddings and event styling and my client base is growing by the day! 🥹

It has been SUCH an honour and a joy talking with brides, planning one of the most significant days/memories of their life. Honestly never going to get over the feeling of a couple CHOOSING YOU to make their floral dreams come true on such a significant day!

With this, comes an enormous amount of behind the scenes work. My weeks of late have consisted of phone calls with brides, online meetings, site viewings, quoting and vision boards. Not to mention my other business 🌱

I have put so much effort into making this exciting time for my clients one of a high end experience to enjoy, remember and gain a sense of ease.

However because of this I have had to put deliveries on a pause as I want to invest as much quality time as possible into my clients, rather than spreading my energy too far!

Saying that I did some deliveries this week, and it was sooo lovely to feel those creatives juices flowing again however in order for things to run smoothly and avoid burnout some things are changing…

✨I will now only be delivering to Sydney’s northern beaches

✈️ IMPORTED FLOWERS ✈️

Yep, it’s a thing. Don’t beat yourself up if you didn’t know about it, but here’s some important information you should know as a consumer in 2023

🦠Imported flowers are covered (actually, soaked) in carcinogenic chemicals that can effect your skin, gut health which contribute to many severe conditions (mainly glyphosate and methyl bromide)

🦠Our earth is paying a huggggeee price when it comes to the emissions released from international transit. You can visit my website for stats on this 😳

🦠Due to transit time, imported flowers have a shelf life of only a few days. By the time they are picked, prepared, have their chemical-baths, boxed, packed for transit, past boarder security on both ends and arrive at the market stands then over to your florists space, usually minimum of a week has already past. Meaning by the time it’s sitting in your home you’ve got approx 2-4 days to enjoy them….not a vibe!

🦠 By buying imported flowers, you are taking business away from Australian, local growers who are incredible at what they do! We have sooo many amazing flowers available year round, importing shouldn’t even be a thing!

SO next time you visit your local florist ask these questions:

✨Do you buy imported flowers?
✨Are these flowers grown in Australia?
✨ Do these flowers have chemicals on them?

If they are bewildered and awkward, then there’s your answer 😂 *pls note this is not the florists fault, financially some have to but in my opinion YOU as the consumer have a right to know the ‘ugly’ side of floristry.
