Do you know that one of the functions of Community Radio rises up during emergencies? That function is communication at its best, and when most needed. Hyperlocal information broadcast in a timely manner by a trusted community hub who knows the names of your street and names of creek crossings (in times of flood).

In case you think ‘community radio’ isn’t something to be taken seriously, the recent NSW flood inquiry might just highlight how valuable a resource community broadcasting is…..

You can tune in from anywhere in the world by livestreaming, or still turn on the dial. Community Radio is a fascinating part of history, as it survives completely on what is given by the public to help its continuity, and operates within super strict guidelines. Checkout this retrospective [with PICS] from 1987- 2008 and see how much Bay FM has been- and continues to be- woven by community minds, hands, and hearts! https://www.bayfm.org/about/

For over 30 years BayFM Community Radio has soundtracked Byron Bay life. We celebrate diversity, inclusion and respect in our programming. We remain independent and objective in a world increasingly beset by vested interests and 'fake news'.

This humble, local legend ran the Bay FM Business and Lifestyles program for an amazing twenty years. One of the first interviews we want to run in the new Byron Business Show, will be a retrospective with Phil Daly.

Byron Business host, Phil Daly hangs up his headphones after 20 years.

Phil's voice resonated over the airwaves every Tuesday, hosting the one hour program, Byron Business for 17 years, then the extended, two hour, ‘Byron Business People & Lifestyle’ program for the past three years.

Byron Business gave a voice to our local business community whether they were start up or established.

Phil was also involved in various volunteer roles at BayFM on the Program Team, facilitating Management Committee strategy and business planning workshops and just simply being involved in stalls at market days.

We're going to miss Phil's energy at the station.

You can tune into his last show on Tuesday 28 June from 11am-1pm.
