Snapshots from our 2 week road trip around Queenstown and Fiordland with 🏔️📷🚘

It’s one of my favourite places in the World to road trip and it’s easy to see why. New Zealand has some of the most beautiful scenery in the World and there is so much to see and do. We travel there at least once a year (and I used to live over there) and each time we are still in awe of just how stunning this place is.

I love the freedom that having your own car brings when traveling. It allows you to travel at your own pace, stop and explore and be spontaneous.

Already planning our next trip back!

Snapshots from one of my favourite experiences in Queenstown 🏔️🚢

Catching the TSS Earnslaw (a 1912 Edwardian twin screw steamer) across Lake Wakatipu to Walter Peak Station to experience Queenstowns best foodie experience.

With a cruise across the lake, a local wine in hand and the most stunning view in the Queenstown area, to indulge in a gourmet BBQ which incudes local produce by the lake, surrounded by towering peaks on a working farm.

As lovers of good food, good wine (and beer), beautiful scenery and amazing experiences - this is the one thing we always do when we visit Queenstown (we’ve done it 3 times now and it’s our non-negotiable ‘must-do’).

Already counting the days until we’re back!

A chilly -8’c on our farm the last two mornings with some solid frost on the ground ❄️🥶

Winter has been a fresh one!

Some snaps I’ve taken over the last couple of days for Tourism work for our local tourism board Visit Tenterfield located in the New England High Country region of Visit NSW Australia.com

It was so cold even the cows had frost on them! 🐄

HERE IT IS - My cover feature and 10 page article in an Australian magazine.

I was recently contacted by the lovely Steph from FOUND Regional magazine – a magazine which brings you the stories you need to read, the people you need to know, the places to go and the events not to miss – in the New England and Coffs Coast region of New South Wales, both in print and online.

She asked if she could do a cover story about me and my photography career and my move from Byron Bay to Tenterfield, including our wine brand Knucklehead Wines that Kyle Goodwin started after beginning his career as a winemaker.

It's a 10 page article and something i am proud of - it made me sit back and realise how far i've come in the career that i have paved for myself. From humble beginnings to working with tourism clients in Samoa, Vanuatu, Japan, New Zealand and many other clients in Australia - as well as a successful Online Print Store - www.photographybyronbay.com.au

Forever thankful to all those who have supported me and been in my corner throughout my life and my career x

Memories from Milford 🏔️

There’s a reason why Milford Sound is on so many people’s bucket lists. It’s a place like no other - cruising underneath towering peaks, thundering waterfalls and alongside wildlife in one of the most beautiful places on Earth.

Counting down the days until I’m back in one of my favourite places on Earth.

Food Lovers ‘must do’ in Queenstown 🏔️🍷🍽️

Queenstown’s ultimate dining experience at Walter Peak High Country Farm with .newzealand is one of our favourite things to do every time we visit! A long lunch or dinner at Walter Peak’s Homestead Restaurant, a restored colonial building stationed on elegant sweeping grounds.

For two lovers of good food, good wine and good views, this is our idea of a perfect experience.

I’m amazed at how many people don’t know about this experience in Queenstown - and whenever we tell people about it and then they experience it themselves, they are always so stoked that they went!

This is what your Walter Peak gourmet BBQ experience includes:

🏔️ Return scenic cruise across Lake Whakatipu on the TSS Earnslaw (45 mins each way) - one of the most beautiful ways to experience and view Queenstown, The Remarkables and Lake Whakatipu.
🏔️ Buffet-style BBQ dining (Lunch or dinner) of local and homegrown produce at the Homestead Restaurant. Think wood-fired meats, refreshing salads & vegetables, delicious deserts and cheeses (yum!!).
🏔️ Lakeside dining on the shore of Walter Peak High Country Farm, with views across Lake Whakatipu towards Queenstown (make sure you bring your camera, as the views are absolutely stunning)!
🏔️ Watch the farm dogs in action with a sheep-herding demonstration and say hello to the other farm animals (so many cute animals to see)!
🏔️ Duration: 3 hours 30 mins - 4 hours - a perfect way to spend your time in Queenstown!

I just wrapped up an unforgettable stay at the Hotel St Moritz in Queenstown 🏔️

Beneath the Southern Alps, wrapped in the embrace of Queenstown’s serene beauty, my stay at was a haven where luxury meets the wild heart of New Zealand.

With sunsets and views such as these it’s no wonder Queenstown is one of my favourite places on Earth.

Autumn in Tenterfield 🍁🍂

One of the reasons I love living on our farm in Tenterfield is that we get four distinct seasons. In Autumn the trees are covered in leaves of all shades of golds, yellows, oranges & reds, in Winter the ground is covered in frost that looks like snow (which we get a dusting of on occasions), Spring time brings the country back to life with the trees covered in Spring blossoms and Summer the countryside is all shades of green.

Autumn is one of my favourites as the days get shorter and wines by the fireplace at night.

Moments from Vernazza ☼✧

I can’t believe it’s been five months since we were in Cinque Terre, in the beautiful Italian village of Vernazza. I’ve barely shared any photos from my European trip, but I plan to start sharing more.
Vernazza was my favourite village of the 5 towns of Cinque Terre. Probably because it’s where we based ourselves to explore the other towns and spent most of our time. We stayed here in an airbnb right on the piazza where we spent our days swimming in the sea, drinking Aperol spritz, eating delicious local food and catching up with my childhood friend who lives in this beautiful town. We caught the train and explored the other towns and it’s honestly one of the most beautiful places in the world.

How lucky I am to be able to travel and explore parts of the world such as this.

Already dreaming and planning our next trip back x

💦 Saturnia Hot Springs, Tuscany, Italy 💦

Saturnia hot springs in Tuscany is on of the places we had on our Italy list that we both wanted to visit.

The thermal waters bubble up through the earths crust and flow into the natural pools, which creates one of the most relaxing places to bathe.

📍 Saturnia is located approximately 200km from Florence and 180km from Rome and is well worth staying in the village of Saturnia for a couple of nights. We had some of the best food in Italy here and it’s definitely a place we’d visit again.

Hit tip! Visit early in the morning and you will potentially have the place to yourself!

Rainbows & Lavender fields… is there anything prettier? 🌈 💜

This time last year we were in Tasmania on a roadtrip for 10 days, eating all of the delicious local food (I think we ate our weight in oysters and lobster), drinking all of the local wine and exploring all of the beautiful places. I realised when this memory popped up on my phone memories that I haven’t shared too much of our trip.

has to be up there with my favourite places in Australia. It’s unmatched beauty, it’s raw nature and life just feels good when you’re there. We even talked about moving down there on our flight home we loved it so much.

Hoping to get back down here again this year to explore some more.

Time by the sea 𓇼⚓︎

I’ve spent the last 6 weeks out of 7 down here at home by the sea for work. I went back home to our farm for Christmas and New Year and then back down here to Byron and Lennox again. It’s been just what I needed (although I’ve been missing Kyle and my boys terribly).

In between photoshoots & editing I’ve been spending time with family & friends and reconnecting with old friends.

I’ve been spending time by myself by the ocean learning about myself, learning to let go, learning to dream again, reigniting my passion for taking photos for me. I have a new fire inside of me and I’m so excited to see what this year brings. This year feels different. I feel inspired and excited for what’s ahead. I have big plans for my business, my health & wellbeing, for travel & adventures.

Thanks for sticking around and I can’t wait to start sharing more of my work again x

Italy!! Santa Margherita Ligure ⛱️🍹🇮🇹 🍕

I can’t believe it’s been two months this week since we’ve been back from our 7 week trip to Europe! I never finished sharing my stories and I’ve hardly shared any of the trip.

This would have to be one of my favourite places we stayed (and it was the beginning of our trip) - Santa Margherita Ligure, the next village along the coast from Portofino. Aperol Spritz by the sea. Does it get any better. I can’t wait to share more from here.

The remainder of 2023 flew past with non stop work and family time - so it looks like 2024 will be when I share my European trip (amongst all the other content I have also captured).

My aim is to be more consistent on here, share more of what I do and more of my travels & work - I was a bit slack in 2023 with sharing consistently on here, but I was flat out working for clients travelling and photographing some pretty incredible places.

Hoping everyone had a Happy New Year and thanks for sticking around 🙏

One place that was on my list to visit while we were in Tuscany was the Val d’Orcia countryside. This area is what you think of when someone says ‘Tuscany’. Rolling hills, cypress lined roads and villas perched upon hilltops.

It didn’t disappoint.

Home ♡🩷 Back home on the farm after 7 weeks away in Europe.

Travelling Italy, France & Spain was a dream (the reason for the whole trip was for our friends wedding in Spain and we built a trip around that - spending one week in Spain, two weeks in France and four weeks in Italy). Some of the trip was for work, however most was for holiday. It was also to create memories for Kyle and I and travel while we can. Take the chance while you can, as you never know what is around the corner.

I’ll be sharing more of the trip soon (lots of photos and videos to edit & stories to share). I tried not to be on socials too much (I shared delayed stories and a few reels, however I ended up not posting on my feed for over a month and it was so nice to switch off and not feel pressured to post - and actually really immerse myself in the travel).

It’s been sad to see the devastation of the fires back here at home (our place was thankfully fine, however my mother in laws property burnt again and we had some friends also lose their property). It really makes you realise how precious life is and to make the most of life and cherish every moment. I’ll be forever thankful for this trip and I’m excited for the year ahead. Lots of travel work (as well as my ‘normal’ photography work) & travel plans, new projects on the horizon, I feel like I have a whole new perspective on life again. My next full day off is not until Christmas Eve in 6 weeks, but I’m feeling very grateful for my life.

If you’re still here thanks for sticking around, it means the world 🙏

Country Drives 🌈🌾

I recently took off on a roadtrip on a job for Tenterfield Tourism, to explore and capture all that the Tenterfield Shire has to offer. It gave me the chance to explore the region in which we live and I was surprised at just how beautiful this area truly is.

Urbenville, which is located just 25kms south of the Queensland border is one area I fell in love with. With remnants of old volcanic plugs, waterfalls, bushwalking, 4wding, beautiful campgrounds and National Parks. It’s definitely worth a roadtrip around this area and one I’ll be going back to shortly.
