Riverbend’s Magical Full Moon Flowers are in full bloom. Just incredible! They are a must see here, that is if you are lucky enough to book in and stay here exactly when they bloom. They only bloom for 1 night only and it is literally impossible to guess when they will open. You can sometimes only tell about a day or two before they will be opening but sometimes if you don’t keep your eye on them, or just look at the plant once in a while, you may actually just miss them opening all together. They say they open on a full moon but we have found that they don’t always opening every full moon or even directly on a full moon night. Sometimes there is only 1 flower other times there have been eleven flowers all in one night or a couple opening the night before the full moon and a couple on the full moon evening and even some opening the night after. It really is something seeing how plants are affected by the world around them, by the tides, the sun, and the moon and the stars, the water and soil and every element, I even believe they are affected by human presences around them.
Energy is everywhere we look, constantly changing and moving and creating and shifting and no matter how big or small the shifts are these flowers literally make me aware of it all and it’s something that makes me literally slow down and stop and smell the roses. ( well in this instance moon flowers) Their incredible beauty that is manifested and created that just blooms and shines so bright then dies. Makes you reflect thinking about time, existance and life and death and the incredible circle of life.

Backpacker WOOFFA opportunity
We are looking for a few backpackers, motivated & hard working ideally couples, or friends travelling together to help us out on our beautiful 118 acre farm in the Byron Hinterland for about 3-4 days this week/weekend. Extended positions available for the right travellers.
We will put you up in our luxury suite rooms and also our gorgeous glamping teepees, feed you really well and make sure you have a fun awesome experience on one of the most beautiful magical farms in the Byron Hinterland.
Wildlife abounds on our property and you are likely to see koalas, echidnas and even platypus in our massive river.
Our ideal Backpackers are travellers who want an Aussie Farm Experience on a gorgeous Byron Hinterland Property / Retreat where you can essentially have a holiday too and work part-time
We would prefer couples or friends travelling together 6-8 places available
Work in exchange for free accommodation at our luxury retreat staying in our gorgeous suite rooms or luxury glamping tents and food included.
General job tasks will include:
-bit of gardening, help with our macadamia harvest sorting, and some bush regeneration. Cleaning, Painting, Hedge Trimming, Working on Macadamia Orchard, Sorting Shed, carpentry work,
Anyone with gardening, carpentry or farming experience a bonus but you don’t need any experience for this job.
Morning shifts so that the rest of the time you can do your own thing relax and chill on the property you can explore our private rainforest or river, or laze by our stunning hilltop pool. You can even work another job in afternoons or evenings if you wish in your off time.

Morning walks down to the river today spotting platypus which is a favourite for our working dog Bdabb. I’m just not to sure if he has seen a platypus this morning or maybe it’s a turtle. So much wildlife out and about at the moment. We are just loving spring time and all the little offspring popping up everywhere. Such a beautiful time to be here. Love Riverbend x

Tonight’s full moon has all our wonderful wildlife out and about. Spotted by one of our guests tonight with this incredible photo of our stunning tawny frogmouth. You’ll find him perched on the wooden fence or half way down the driveway late at night looking for a little dinner feast. He sits there patiently waiting for a little movement of some kind maybe a mouse, rat or snake to snack on. If your lucky you may see a few of them as there are three that sit in the tree, so it’s best to go for a late night walk to see if you can spot them. Friday Yeahhh…. quite a morning here as the rain stopped and the clouds parted, the most magnificent rainbow appeared, just a little bit of magic reminding us that there is always light at the end of the tunnel. Riverbends Parfait layered with blueberry & raspberry greek yoghurt, mixed seasonal fruit, berries and the yummiest Byron Bay Macadamia and Cranberry Muesli (only the best macadamias here) and drizzled with passion fruit to finish. So, some people have asked if we are open again & yes we are. Although we have been quiet on social media as it’s been to say the least a crazy time since the unthinkable storms up here for us & for everyone around us effected. It’s a long road ahead still & it will be a long time till everyone up here fully recovers. We’d like to thank all our wonderful guests who have still been coming & staying keeping Riverbend alive. The Retreat looks so lush & green here & the river is emerald & full & enchanting, it’s just an incredible sight to see how the floods have just ripped all the trees out opening the river up even more & visually seeing what Mother Nature is capable of. It’s a must see when you visit. As we are recovering we will be working on some major projects here over the next year or two, starting with the entire 1km access driveway road being redone as it had collapsed. The Homestead is also being re-stumped, new decks for the tee-pees, new gravelling in all the outdoor Bali bathrooms. The Events Barn will get a new makeover & we may even be creating a few new accommodation secrets too. So watch this space & please do come back & support all those up here that have been affected as so many small businesses are still suffering & need your love, support & business.
