I've captured the fascinating Stage 2-3 metamorphosis from caterpillar (Larva) to chrysalis (Pupa) of the Cairns Birdwing Butterfly. This video has been sped up 1000 x to show the full process of it shedding its skin to reveal a very soft golden chrysalis. I really wanted to see the process but kept missing it. This one happened at 5am in the morning, so I set up a camera and filmed it all night and my camera only just caught it before my SD card was full and my battery was flat. Enjoy it :-)

August's dreamy Moon last night at 99.6% fullness. Glad I caught it yesterday as overnight a full cloud cover enveloped Cairns rendering a rainy Tue! Very surprising considering how clear it was yesterday and last night.

The Helmeted Friarbird, curious and forthcoming but not as aggressive as some of the other species of friarbirds. I often see them in pairs, squawking at each other but this one always visits me alone. Among the Drongos, Yellow Spotted Honeyeaters, Peewees and White Throated Honeyeaters, these are my regular visitors as we're winding up the Winter months in Cairns.

This little fellow at Tyto Wetlands in Ingham... sunning himself on the banks of the beautiful lily pond at the visitor's centre there.

Australasian Darter perched with a peculiar backward twisted foot amidst a lotus lily pond in full bloom. I have never been to the Tyto Wetlands in Ingham before. Stunning grounds, I wish I had longer there.... only stopped for the loo but then grabbed my camera when I saw endless turtles on rocks, Kingfishers and Darters everywhere. The colours were amazing!
