๐Ÿ›‘โšก๏ธ We are now one of the 47,000+ Tasmanians with no electricity. On the UP side:
* we have a gas stove so we can cook,
* none of us have to use electrical medical devices,
* we donโ€™t have any babies or small children,
* we are not elderly,
* we have no damage to our home or property.

We are the lucky ones, some Tasmanians are doing it VERY tough. Special thoughts to them.

๐Ÿ™ THANK YOU to Tas Network employees who are out there trying to fix things. We will be patient.

๐Ÿ™ THANK YOU to all the emergency services doing your best to keep us safe.

๐Ÿ™ THANK YOU to all medical professionals who would be feeling the extra strain on services.

Today in the cold, rain, wind and even HAIL Gavin Merrington & his team from Original Stained Glass https://www.originalstainedglass.com.au/ are removing Church windows and installing safety clear glass windows. WOW what a job as the windows have NO FRAMES, they are imbedded into the building. See more videos for details.

They also removed and restored our main stain glass windows and they are FANTASTIC! We are so lucky to work with great people!๐Ÿ‘

โœ…Today marked the completion of another task: a post and rail fence now neatly divides the southern, private end of the property from the larger, northern end, designated for weddings, events, and festivals.

Graham and Darcy Back from Digging in the Dirt rural fencing contractors did an outstanding job. I HIGHLY RECOMMEND โญ๏ธโญ๏ธโญ๏ธโญ๏ธโญ๏ธ them for their meticulous attention to detail, swift and precise work, their pleasant demeanor, great to deal with and reasonable pricing. Graham is obviously analytical and intelligent, plus thoughtful with his works and suggestions. A perfect 10/10.

They will return tomorrow to construct a sizable three-bay compost area. They are indeed versatile and skilled builders!โ™ป๏ธ

๐Ÿ†As a passionate food enthusiast, I'm thrilled to hear about the Australian Gourmet Traveller named Restaurant of the Year award winner is The Agrarian Kitchen!

It's a significant national competition and definitely a cause for celebration.

We're excited to visit! Congratulations. It's always wonderful to see Tasmania in the spotlight!

https://www.facebook.com/share/p/Y3yNcmdkKvvf8X7H/

If you havenโ€™t heard the news, we are overjoyed and deeply humbled to share that last night, The Agrarian Kitchen restaurant was honoured with Gourmet Travellerโ€™s โ€œRestaurant of the Yearโ€ award.

The magnitude of this recognition is only beginning to sink in after such an emotional acceptance. We are truly grateful for all the well wishes weโ€™ve received today; your kind words have been a heartwarming reminder of why we do what we do. Itโ€™s clear that our incredible community of supporters plays a vital role in our journey.

This award is as much a tribute to our remarkable team as it is to us. Their dedication and passion are what bring our vision to life and inspire us every day. From our modest beginnings with the cooking school to where we are now, the evolution of The Agrarian Kitchen has been a remarkable journey, filled with challenges that make this achievement even more meaningful.

Thank you all for your unwavering support and a huge thank you to Joanna Hunkin and the team.

๐Ÿด๓ ง๓ ข๓ ณ๓ ฃ๓ ด๓ ฟWHY THE SCOTTISH THEME?

๐Ÿด๓ ง๓ ข๓ ณ๓ ฃ๓ ด๓ ฟCampbell Town, originally known as waylata, was renamed by Scotsman Lachlan Macquarie in 1821 in honour of his Scottish wife, Elizabeth Henrietta Campbell. The town and the Elizabeth River flowing through it bear her name.

๐Ÿด๓ ง๓ ข๓ ณ๓ ฃ๓ ด๓ ฟScottish immigration played a significant role in the development of Campbell Town. Many Scots arrived in Van Diemenโ€™s Land on ships, lured by the promise of land grants and convict labour. These immigrants, many of whom settled in Campbell Town and surrounding areas, established strong Scottish communities.

๐Ÿด๓ ง๓ ข๓ ณ๓ ฃ๓ ด๓ ฟOne notable Scotsman, Adam Turnbull, who immigrated from Scotland, was instrumental in raising funds to build the St. Andrews Presbyterian Church, now known as โ€œThe Church.โ€ He served as the first Presbyterian minister in Campbell Town and settled there with his family. The stained-glass window in The Church is dedicated to his daughter, Suzanna.

๐Ÿด๓ ง๓ ข๓ ณ๓ ฃ๓ ด๓ ฟBuilt in 1857, The Church's Victorian Gothic architectural style, characterised by its solid sandstone structure and tall spire, reflects the Scottish architectural influences of the period. This design adds both historical and aesthetic value to the building.

๐Ÿด๓ ง๓ ข๓ ณ๓ ฃ๓ ด๓ ฟDuring the 1900s, Campbell Town hosted numerous Highland Games, celebrating its rich Scottish heritage.

๐Ÿด๓ ง๓ ข๓ ณ๓ ฃ๓ ด๓ ฟ According to the 2021 Census, Scottish ancestry is the third most common among Campbell Town residents, following Australian and English ancestry.

๐Ÿด๓ ง๓ ข๓ ณ๓ ฃ๓ ด๓ ฟThe current owners, Garry and Nicole, have strong Scottish roots, being direct descendants of the Campbell and Gordon clans, which further enriches the Scottish theme of The Church.

Super Hubby appears to have found a new delight - PHOTOGRAPHY!
(just on his iPhone) but I love how he now sees things "differently" through the lens.

Here are a few photos he took this evening! So many light changes in just a couple of hours!

We are acutely aware of the various reactionsโ€”gossip, misinformation, positivity, negativity, excitement, toxicity, bullying, ulterior motives and numerous opinionsโ€”that have emerged since we acquired "The Church."

We understand itโ€™s an important edifice in our small town (of around 900), and residents are invested in its future and in new members to their community.

The journey has been long, but we are thrilled to be on the verge of opening it to everyone.

We bought The Church nine years ago but had to put our plans on hold for five years following a cancer diagnosis. Subsequent delays occurred due to ongoing parking disputes with the Northern Midlands Council - this was blatant bullying as, it was NOT recommended by the Traffic Engineer, yet the GM made his own parking demands completely opposite to the Engineer's report. We are the ONLY business who has EVER been forced to pay ($40,000) to NMC for parking works on public land/roadway...this issue continues...

Now, we are moving forward at full speed.

We invite you to ask us ANYTHING, yes literally ANYTHING. We are an open book. Feel free to inquire here, or if you prefer, email us at [email protected] we would MUCH prefer you ask us directly rather than listen to what is literally "rubbish" that has been viral for some time.

You may ask anonymously or openly; you will receive the same response either way. Let's set aside gossip and engage in genuine dialogue.

For more information about us, our journey, our background, and our principles, visit https://thechurchtas.com.au/our-story/

After that, transparency is the cornerstone of understanding, and we are very happy to engage and address any concerns.

For all those who have been POSITIVE, loyal and not engaged with hearsay. THANK YOU! We are truly appreciative. Your independence and positive engagement mean more than you could know.๐Ÿฅฐ ONWARDS & UPWARDS as always ๐Ÿ‘

๐Ÿ’›Daffodils = Hope!๐Ÿ’›

Our daffodils are in full bloom. We have planted hundreds of them around the property and they will be ever increasing!

Daffodils are very significant to us as a family. Both losing our fathers to cancer and me having had cancer. We will be sure to do Cancer fundraisers at The Church and support Cancer Council Tasmania and Love Your Sister wherever possible.

โ€œDaffodil Day is Cancer Council's most iconic and much-loved annual campaign that raises life-saving funds for world-class cancer research. It's a time of hope; where we come together to show our support for the 150,000 Australians diagnosed with cancer each yearโ€.

โ›ช๏ธCHURCH UPDATE: There's a lot of preparation underway behind the scenes. Here's a brief update:

* Four large crystal chandeliers are en route to Tasmania and will become the central lighting features inside The Church.

* Three of The Church's windows are being fitted with clear safety glass, allowing a view from the inside out. This is being expertly handled by heritage specialist Gavin Merrington of Original Stained Glass, as the windows are set directly into the walls without any frames. Gavin and his team have previously restored the large stained glass windows at the eastern end of the church, above the altar. We've collaborated with Gavin before; he's not only exceptional in his craft but also a genuinely good person.

* A new fence is being construction to separate the 'working' southern end from the rest of the property, in preparation for events and festivals.

* The toilet block has been completed off-site and is expected to be delivered within the next few weeks.

* The Caravan Bar is being constructed off-site and is progressing well, thanks to the skilled work of Neil Collins of Fabrication & Fit Out by Neil, another tradesman who is a pleasure to work with!

Many more events are unfolding, but we'll leave it at that for now. Indeed, these are exciting times.

๐Ÿ‘๐ŸฅฉButlers butchery is right here in Campbell Town. It's important to preserve the traditional butcheries that are becoming increasingly scarce. We're fortunate to have this small family business, so let's support it. Today we got the "Family Pack" and a large bag of Dried Chicken Necks for our dogs.

Great value. Excellent job Butlers!

As you probably know all our development plans have just been APPROVED by the Northern Midlands Council (and of course, Heritage Tasmania).

We always like to look on the UP side of everything, and the huge delays gave us the opportunity to do extensive back-end EXPANSIONS, IMPROVEMENTS & BUSINESS PLANNING.

We WILL BE QUIET here for a while - this won't be because we are actually quiet, but rather we will be madly busy.

The "behind the scenes" work is super prepared, but now it's all the PRACTICAL work that needs to be actioned.

We can't give you an OPEN DATE as we rely on tradies from many, many fields - who already have jobs booked in and are in high demand.

We'd rather just post when we are closer to opening because, seriously....this is the LONGEST, most drawn-out opening of ANY project we have EVER been involved in. ๐Ÿคฆ

On the UP SIDE, we have had so much GOOD & KIND karma of late; it's inspiring, to say the least.

It's now time to lay low and reveal later...

SEE YOU ON THE UP SIDE!!!!

๐Ÿ™The goodness in people:

7 years ago we ordered outdoor tables to be made. I then got breast cancer, daily treatment trips to Launceston, life happened and plans changed โ€ฆ..and I forgot all about the tables.

A few days ago, I received a random call from the maker saying he had driven past our property (he lives 2 hrs away) and got my phone number from a sign. He reminded me of a deposit I had paid for tables ordered. He wanted to return my deposit - however, neither of us could remember what amount was paid, so I said not to worry about it and keep whatever it was as I appreciated his honesty and it was so long ago.

Well, today, he dropped off: $500 & a box of chocolates. He left it with other people as he said he didnโ€™t want to hand it to me as I โ€œprobably wouldnโ€™t take itโ€.

I hope good karma comes his way - what a nice man - GOOD, honest & ethical.

THANK YOU to him. It means more than he could know. (I don't think he has social media).

Human kindness โœ…

ADDED: Unfortunately he no longer has his 1 man furniture making business, otherwise I would certainly be naming it and promoting such an ethical business. This actually adds to his honesty as he had absolutely NOTHING to gain by doing this act - it was out of pure integrity. ๐Ÿ™
