We had a wonderfully Christmassy morning to wrap up term 4! We had snow, painted all kinds of "Christmas trees" we might see in the local area, and sang Aussie Jingle Bells!

Thank you all for your support over this year - each person who has come along, donated things (often odd things - bits of greenery, rocks, coffee grounds), suggested ideas and encouraged our team has been so appreciated!

Thanks also to North East Salvos for bringing along the brass band - some of us enjoyed dancing while others preferred sitting or playing while listening, and we know all the other residents who attended enjoyed listening too!

Don't forget our Christmas event next Thursday from 5! There will be plenty of activities that are playgroup age friendly (and plenty more that we can modify to make them work!!). Best of all the only things you pay for are the optional drinks and desserts.

If you have primary school aged kids they are more than welcome to come along to this event! It will have Christian content included as kids are invited to explore the Christmas story together through craft, fun and games!

We are very excited to again be offering a Holiday Program this Christmas!

We are running a families Christmas fair before our carols event next Thursday evening! Here are the details, we'd love to see you there!

We know everyone has been waiting to find out what we are offering for kids and families at our Christmas fair this year! Well... here's where you can find out!

Our carols are also a kid-friendly event, bring some snacks, maybe have some free sausages or splash out and buy an ice cream or slushie! There will be a kids' component to the carols, as well as a visit from someone special...

All of our activities are completely FREE so you can bring your kids for some holiday fun without the price tag!

Playgroup last week was a wonderful time of sharing flowers and kindness!

Thank you to those from the wider community who supported us, we loved including your flowers and greenery! We even had enough to take 6 bunches to people living at Resthaven who didn't make it along to playgroup.

If you grow flowers in your garden, they can be a lovely simple way to connect with the people in your community!

Our FINAL playgroup for 2023 is tomorrow! Come along and join in the Christmassy fun ☺️

We shared some difficult news at playgroup last week.

After a fantastic year, with lots of connections made thanks to the support of Resthaven Paradise and Campbelltown City Council (SA), our involvement with intergenerational playgroup is coming to an end - at least, for now.

Our whole team - including staff, volunteers, our wonderful supporters in the lifestyle team at Resthaven, and all participants including families and residents, have been positively impacted by intergenerational connections this year.

The families who put a real effort into connecting with residents, the residents who manage to show up each week excited to connect, and the wonderful kids who are always begging to see their "old people" are what makes this playgroup the very special community it is. We know that these intergenerational connections will continue, even if it looks a little different in future. Families are still very welcome to visit the older people they have connected with as visitors to Resthaven, and we hope that in the new year others will step forward to formally continue the group and the connections we have worked so hard to build over 2023!

This has been difficult news for our whole playgroup community. We would love to invite families who would like to be notified when a new initiative starts to share their details with us, so we can pass these on to council. We also invite all those families who have joined us during the year to come along to our end of year celebration this Thursday - the connections we have made are so worth celebrating 🎉

This week is our very last week of playgroup for 2023. We are so excited to celebrate the year that we've had together!

If you have visited us within the past year and would like to come along, we would love to have you join us!

Morning tea will be provided - please let us know of any dietary requirements. We will be making Christmas decorations from nature materials, listening to some Christmas music, and acknowledging all of the wonderful people who have helped make playgroup what it is this year!

Today we have a florist's shop, we are making Christmas cards, and we have a story ready to go too!

This week we are very excited to have a brand new activity - we will have a florist 'shop' like this one from Learning 4 kids set up at Resthaven for our littles and older people to make posies for each other! We are hoping to make extra to deliver to other residents. We have put a call out to the local community who might like to donate from their home gardens, so if you have neighbours or relatives who would like to contribute feel free to bring those flowers along to playgroup!

We will also be marble painting this week, which is a delightful activity for all our little people who like to see things that go!

Intergenerational playgroup has had a fantastic year, connecting older and younger people and bringing joy to all involved in the process!

We are hoping to end the year with a special 'flower stall' and are seeking donations of garden flowers and clean empty jam jars which will be used by our playgroup members to put together into posies to gift to one another, and other residents within Resthaven Paradise.

If you have enjoyed seeing the photos we have posted throughout the year, this is your chance to contribute to what we do! We are hoping for a variety of cut flowers and greenery so that we can be wildly creative - perhaps if you intend to contribute you could comment below so that others know what is already being donated.

Cut flowers, greenery and jam jars can be dropped off to Resthaven Paradise Reception between 9am and 3:30pm Wednesday 6 December, or 8:30-9:30am Thursday 7 December. If you are leaving a bucket that you would like returned please ensure it has your name and phone number on it and we will make sure it can be collected!

We had a very colourful time at playgroup yesterday morning - painting toast (it tasted fantastic!), playing with coloured foam, and of course making some coffees and cakes for everyone who came along!

We even did some popcorn threading which was a lovely way to start preparing for Christmas (although we think only one probably made it all the way home!!)

Playgroup last week was a fantastic time of imaginative play, 'shopping', sensory activities and painting!

We are thrilled to be back at Resthaven Paradise tomorrow from 10-11am. We will be enjoying everything rainbow - with painted toast, rainbow foam, and more imaginative play!

This week at playgroup we are enjoying everything rainbow!

We will be painting our own rainbow toast (yes, this is edible) like these works of art from Cleverful Living with Holley Grainger, and playing with bubble foam in rainbow colours - as well as a few surprise activities!

If you will be attending this week and you or your child have any dietary restrictions, we MUST know about them! Please send us a message so you don't miss out on the activity.

We're ready for playgroup this morning at Paradise Primary School! We will have the Salvos flag out the front so you can see where to come, but if you're feeling lost give us a call on 0412 293 040 and we'll find you!

Today we have a 'coffee shop' set up, some water sensory play, and we'll be reading Old McDonald had a farm!
