The name ‘CaptaVitae’ comes from the Latin ‘to capture life’, and describes the philosophy which underpins Chris Manchester’s photography. First taking an interest in recording his experiences of the natural environment, the desire to take home images of the landscape and its inhabitants was aided and abetted by his work as a biological scientist. Soon this act of recording the natural world becam
e a desire to communicate his own vision of the marvels that surround us at any given moment, including people, places and events. In this, Chris sees technology as a collaborative partner in the creative process: a partner whose contribution is to enhance and illuminate the subject, but never dominate the view. A commitment to ongoing professional development in the use of technology and new techniques ensures that Chris’ vision remains fresh and relevant, regardless of his subject.
