In the late 1990s, composer Professor Kenneth Lampl received a call from a friend asking if he could write the musical score for a project she didn't want: “Some kids’ movie… something called ‘Poke-man’ or so.”

“Fine, I’ll do it as a favour,” Lampl told his friend. “But you owe me one.”

That favour turned into composing the music for the first-ever Pokémon movie – an instant classic for a generation of ’90s kids.

From his jazz roots to becoming a classical composer to scoring music for Hollywood, Professor Kenneth Lampl from ANU School of Music has never missed a beat.
