A festival for our troubled times: Buy your tickets now!

With a theme of Liberté and venues from boats (with radios) on Lake Burley Griffin, to the Canberra Glassworks and Dairy Road's LESS, next year’s festival will give its audience space for listening with an open heart, under the compelling vision of new artistic director Eugene Ughetti.

CIMF 2025 brings together a line-up of super-star Finnish musicians, including Paavali Jumppanen, Satu Vänskä and Erkki Veltheim, playing compositional giants Saariaho and Sibelius.

In a celebration of Indigenous voices and artistry, the legendary Mark Atkins delivers the east coast premiere of his mesmerizing theatrical journey, Mungangga Garlagula, as well as works by Nicole Smede, Chris Sainsbury and Deborah Cheetham Fraillon.

The festival opens with a spectacular performance by the Melbourne Chamber Orchestra, joined by the Flinders and Ellery Quartets. It features Vaughan Williams’ popular classic Fantasia on a Theme by Thomas Tallis and Beethoven’s Egmont Overture, alongside bold new works by leading Australian composers including the world premiere of Richard Mills’ violin concerto with Sophie Rowell as soloist.
