23 teams contested the King's birthday 2 person ambrose today thanks to Mark O'Meagher and his team at Ray White Clare Valley.

Great to see some new faces with teams from the windfarms, Blyth golf club, Toro Australia and a heap of young Clare lads.
One of those teams consisting of Tain Mathie & Henry Fogden taking the honours with a net 60.5. Well played lads and great to see you making the most of your $90 junior membership.....great value at that price.
In 2nd was Team Tregilgas, Claire & Rob with net 63 just getting the better of Team Butler, Mitch and Matt on net 63.5.

Long drives went to Alex Nicholls and Jake Purtell.
NTP's
#7 Grant Mugge
#9 Michael Bray
#12 Michael Bray
#14 Trevor Huppatz - narrowly missing a hole out.

Special mention to best dressed Michael Bray and Adam Moller, not often we see guys coordinating outfits. Will it be white pants next Michael? I promise this might be the last photo.

Thanks to Ray White Clare Valley for the sponsorship, Tren & Jenny Vine for the BBQ and all those who played.

Platinum Ag Services- Clare sponsored the Par round on Saturday which was played in absolute ripping weather with 25 players enjoyed a course in sensational condition. The recent rain a welcome boost to fairways and greens which continue to improve.

Ben Johnson had a great day recording +5 including a clean even par back 9, most par rounds Ben's +5 would give him the victory but on this occasion only good enough for 2nd. Tough break Ben.

Playing his 9th official round new golfer Mitch Butler had a day out carding a magnificent +11 on the way to breaking 100 for the first time. His day out didn't end there, he narrowly missed a hole in 1 on the 12th but got the birdie and NTP for 5 points to have his name down on the jackpot sheet. Phil 'The Pro' spinning 12 up on the wheel for a $120 win for Mitch on his club card.
Handicapper got revenge by swiping 6.4 shots off the handicap and Mitch says 'watch out Dad I'm coming for you'.

3rd went to Toby Milburn on +3, Toby is another new golfer showing real promise with a game that improves each round.
Could it be the practice he is sneaking out for?
Glenys Pierce +1 and Michael Bray 0 filling the minors.

NTP's went to
Wykari of Clare #7 Tristan Martin
Clare Hotel #9 Daniel Wilson
clos Clare Wines #12 Mitch Butler (age appropriate prize given)
Days Quality Meats #14 Ben Johnson

After a chilly morning the sun shone in a clear blue sky for the 26 players competing in the Platinum Ag Services- Clare stableford round and with close to half the field achieving 30 points or more the standard of golf was OK. Although the floor was a long way from the ceiling.

A grade men's club champ Zach Fielding playing off scratch won the day with 37 points from 17 holes, 4 birdies and an eagle on 10 excellent shooting. The only blemish on the signature hole #7.
Wayne Zechner 35 and Daniel Wilson 34 filling the podium.

NTP's went to
Wykari of Clare #7 Greg Coulter
clos Clare Wines #12 Jarrad Steele
Days Quality Meats #14 Jarrad Steele

As Jerry Maguire once said "HELP ME HELP YOU".

A sand bucket and pitch repair tool should be carried by every player, if you see divot or pitch mark take the time to fix it.

UPDATE
Minutes after posting this we were sent a video showing a young boy filling in divots on a tee block because he had watched his Dad do it. If he can do it so can you.
Be a role model.

Feedback from members and visitors over the last month has been the greens, and course in general is in the best condition for 4 years. Fingers crossed for a good rain soon to give it all an extra boost.

Thanks to our wonderful grounds staff Sam & Patrick, along with the volunteer Army for all the work put into the restoration project.

Sunday morning the club hosted 9 excited junior golfers for a junior competition supported by the sponsorship of Subway Clare Valley.

The 3 groups played from either the 150 meter, red or white tee and suited to their current skill level to ensure all players enjoyed themselves and got to experience the joy a great shot brings. Also the utter frustration of a not so good shot.

There was some fantastic shots hit, the kids learnt a heap about the game and most importantly they had stacks of fun and laughter.

Off the 150 meter Tom Bollen, Angus Schmidt and Darcy Smith played 9 holes under the guidance of Julianne Smith.
Harry Butler (59), Max Weckert (60) and Evan Lawrie (60) played 9 holes off the red tees, Dad's Ben Weckert and Matt Butler tried to help but from what was witnessed the 3 boys will soon overtake the men in golfing ability!

Playing 18 hole stableford comp from the white tee's under the watchful eye of Brad Charnstrom was Mitchell Butler (37), Eddie Charnstrom (35) and Henry Drew.

A huge thanks to the Clare Golf Club Junior Coordinators Julianne Smith & Heather Grace for giving up their time to run these programs that give the kids a chance to experience the great game.

To Subway Clare thanks for providing voucher's for the kids.

To the parents, thanks for bringing your kids out to play and allowing the Clare Golf Club the opportunity to help them get into golf, it's a great game that they can learn so much from.

Kids, and parents the junior comp days are a relaxed introduction to golf, it caters for the beginner through to those wanting to play 18 holes. Come out and give it a go.

Next Comp is Sunday 16th June.

Shoutout to
* Heather Grace and Julianne Smith who are currently holding 'get into golf' and 'Junior golf' sessions.
UPDATED: 15/05/25
- The cart washer extraordinaire crouched down behind the grey cart is none other than Heather Grace.
Congratulations to Julianne Smith who spotted and identified Heather, well done a prize coming your way.

Word is the one and only Michael 'Potto' Dopson made an appearance this week to pass on his golfing prowess and was a huge hit with the school group.
* The Army - our passionate and dedicated group who today started renovation of a few of the cart paths. Just one of the grounds improvement projects the committee earmarked to undertake.
* The women who run the proshop on Monday & Tuesday do a magnificent job.
One was chief car washer today. Can you guess who?
Eagle eyes will spot a clue in the photo.
The 1st to answer correctly wins a prize.

Claymore Wines stableford round was played on Saturday by 28 players who got to enjoy sensational weather and a course in great condition, was this reflected in all the scores.................unfortunately not all.

Like a country cricket batting order the top end was strong but the tail was long. Maybe a few struggled with the quicker greens, how did the President putt?

Finishing on top with a fantastic 40 points and earning a Claymore Wines prize was Scott Kuerschner, look out Scott the handicapper is on its way. Coming in 2nd with a solid 39 points Chris Klinger, 3rd Bradley Lane on 37 both getting a Claymore Wines prize.

Special shout out to visitor Bob Briggs from Ballina Golf Club and NEW member Renshaw Gary, great to see you having a hit in preparation for summer golf.
