The power of networking can create wonderful impact on you personally, and on your business professionally.
This is a great story about our Candle Mate Shirlee from Starfish Scarborough who reached out to her Designer Mate Kirsty from @socialoceanau and then reached out to her Printer Mate Evan from @kwikkopyeaglefarm to get new product packaging organised for an upcoming event.
By the way, you can order these sensational smelling candles and diffusers in this custom-made scent from Shirlee or at the upcoming Jetty 2 Jetty fun run in Moreton Bay.
Needs some new mates in business? Find them at The Ocean Network!
The Ocean Network is a business group dedicated to connecting business owners together.
Members enjoy gathering twice a month at The Belvedere, Woody Point over coffee & breakfast. The program includes networking time, round table introductions & conversations, a business spotlight + an educational speaker delivering information to help you do better in business or to become a better person to do business.
Founded in 2017 by Kirsty Fields and Leanne Blaney, the group meets on the 2nd & 4th Tuesday of each month at 7:30am - which means tomorrow is the day!
See you at 7:30am. For more details, visit https://socialocean.com.au/contact/ocean-network/
Earlier this week, Kirsty was able to tour around some of the Moreton Bay Christmas Trees off the Redcliffe Peninsula, thanks to Robyn and Terry at @busyconnecting
We know those of you local to Redcliffe probably know that Kirsty started a local Facebook Group for fellow Redcliffe locals who also share the annual interest in Christmas Light touring.
This year the group has grown significantly! But if you aren't in it, where are you? Search "Redcliffe Christmas Lights 2023", for the local low down on lights you should check out... or to add yours!
Across the last month, Kirsty has been working toward to the Moreton Bay Says No 2 Violence event with her Steering Committee peers. On Friday hundreds of our peers, business connections, community organisation pals and family joined us in raising our voices against violence.
Emotions were big. Tears were shed. But smiles always prevail with support of each other. We've learnt so much along the way. Though our area of action is working on logistics and promotions, the conversations and education and advocacy we've been honoured to be a part of is special for us.
If you missed this event, and want to join next year, the date is Friday 31st May 2024.

See you at The Komo at 7:30am!
It was an amazing time at the @ausmumpreneur Awards night last week, & so many people have been asking questions about everything at the event.
It was a lovely evening with about 400 women & men enjoying dinner & drinks at Dockside in Darling Harbour, Sydney. A wonderful setting for them to come together to cheer each other on.
A room full of joy & inspiration of what sensational things are happening in the Aussie landscape of Mum's in Business. Bringing home a Silver Award was simply the icing on the cake.

Event life is exciting, hectic, hard work & after several months of planning always brings a smile to our faces. Offering experiences for women in business is an absolute pleasure, and our ongoing collaboration with Jo from Quirky Habits doing so is the most fun!

Hey! It's International Women's Day so we're celebrating the social, economic, cultural, and political achievements of women.
It's not another "mother's day" where we want men to do things for us to feel appreciated for efforts as the person raising your kids. Don't make jokes to women about it.
Globally we're trying to be treated equally. Today we mark the day to spark conversation, recognition and action by the power-holders to:
π₯ be paid equally
π₯ given the promotions we worked hard for
π₯ have the right to go to school because we want to
π₯ reduce abuse in & out of the home
π₯ recognise our reproductive power
π₯ remove gender bias
π₯ accept we do stuff better than men sometimes, the same way men do stuff better than us sometimes
Don't make jokes in your staff room about how you can make the lives of women you work with easier by doing the dishes - or cooking a meal for your Mrs tonight. Women's Equality is NO JOKE!
Instead.....
π Ask what International Women's Day means for your colleagues?
π Would they like to recognise the day more in your workplace?
π Ask if there are there circumstances that they know require action or support to remove?
π Ask if they would they like to celebrate over lunch today?
π Check if your colleagues are being paid the same as you for an equal role.
Simply say "Happy International Women's Day"!

π₯ NEW π₯ logo design completed for our quirky client and Social Ocean buddy Jo for her rebrand into Quirky Habits π
Jo wanted to add more colour into her branding to reflect the vibrancy of her personality and identity workshops and programs she runs for her clients.
After completing independent research after our consult to help her think about and understand some design "quirks", her fully customised word logo was created.
As a result the Quirky Habits logo incorporates three different fonts! The Q itself has been fully stylised in shape, size, font and tail to interact successfully with the rest of the logo.
And it was Jo's hands-on assistance and initial research that sparked the idea of incorporating a face within the open space of the Q too. Representing her target audience clearly, the feminised face in the centre clearly reflects her clientele.
We loved working on this project and are so excited for all the exciting elements and events across launch week this week!

We held a lovely celebration for Janet's 80th birthday at a country hotel in Sunbury, Victoria. This private event was organised along with three of Janet's children who live in two different states of Australia and in Ireland, UK.
It was an afternoon of personal touches to honour Janet and her 80 amazing years of love of life as an educator, woman of faith, mother, wife and dedicated community volunteer.
It was a pleasure to assist with the event logistics, graphic design, personal touches and coordination of guests with the extended family members of Daughter-in-laws and Cousins helping to put smiles on the faces of long separated friends and family.
Happy birthday Janet!
Merry Christmas Ocean Network! Thanks for a wonderful year of business networking, business building & friendships π₯
Special mention to The Belvedere at Woody Point who have been our biggest supporters - and continue to be after 5 years of Tuesday morning breakfasts.

Instagram announced last month that there would be a preferential issue against users reposting video content that hasn't been organically created or loaded directly into it's platform.
The people to be most notably affected are those using video visibly marked as for another platform (that's TikTok video folks). Instagram can read the video is branded for other platforms - and no longer will they allow that "other brand" to be reaching as many of your Followers by them.
We aren't tiktokers (obviously, we don't even know the lingo), but you could save your video files to your smartphone and repost the other way and do some testing between accounts to see if you can repurpose one video file from Instagram to TikTok instead.
