This week I got to stop for a few moments to listen to Remembrance Day practice by (I'm assuming was) the local bag pipe players.
How amazing is this? What a little treat that honestly is the kind of special stuff that randomly happens where we live.
Also, this happened as I was leaving our last Ocean Network morning for 2025. It kind of felt like they were marking the occasion.
(I'm assuming because they used to hold evening bag pipe practice at the Moreton Bay Navy Cadets building across the bay from the Woody Point Jetty).

"The final tally is in! It is with great pleasure that we announce that the 2025 Crew Legal Spring Gala Ball raised a stunning total of $40,243.67 for Raise it for Redcliffe Hospital.
It is amazing what we can achieve when we fill a room full of people with community spirit in mind.
Our target for this year’s fund raising is $52,000.00 to purchase a “Babyroo” Open Care Warmer and Resuscitation Machine to provide state of the art care in the maternity ward of Redcliffe hospital.
We still need help from our local community and businesses to enable us to reach our target to purchase the Babyroo Machine. With 4/5th of our target reached in just one night and only $12,000.00 left to raise, we remain hopeful that we can deliver this machine in time for Christmas.
Donations are tax deductible and any donation big or small will make a meaningful difference.

Seemingly a little secret about LinkedIn, is that it has hidden limitations on heavy activity by accounts.
If you log into your account & essentially can't see your profile, you might see a message saying your account has been restricted.
It's important to note that being restricted is NOT having your account removed. It is a waiting game to get your profile back, unless you contact support to communicate with them about why your account has been put into jail.
We've never been in LinkedIn jail - or Facebook jail either for that matter! So this is second hand information.
Heavy activity would be described as too many of any of these: Sending an unusual number of connection requests, & sending LinkedIn Messages to large number of accounts all within a single day. And your account will also be flagged due to have other parties use your account on your behalf.
We're sharing this, because we have a lot of connections who use VAs, digital secretaries & offshore support staff to control their LinkedIn accounts on their behalf - & LinkedIn activity would be high on the list of tasks allocated to them. This would be the most common reason why accounts would be being accessed from other countries that you don't reside in.
You might think it's unusual for genuine reasons to be sending big numbers of messages or connection requests, but if you (or your staff) are following up invited guests of events, you could easily end up sending hundreds of messages & initiating conversations.
Make sure you aren't setting targets that are driving your staff into dangerous territory.

Now that November has ticked over, the crazy Christmas folks are creeping out of their Christmas light storage cupboards, and prepping like mad ahead of the festive season.
We see you 🧐👀
So when you know there's an interest in this type of thing, and you can support that interest with a few skills, why wouldn't you?
At least that's the thinking behind Kirsty and Bobby (her annual Christmas collaborator). Together they run the local Redcliffe Christmas Lights 2025 Facebook group. And.... it's just been reactivated for the remainder of the year.
The FB group is the home of all information relevant to Christmas on the Redcliffe Peninsula - specifically the fabulous Christmas Light displays you can take your kiddos to visit and wonder in awe at. An evening tour of pretty lights is a fabulous way to spend time with your favourite people - or on your own.
If you're already aware of displays starting to be set up, we want to hear about them! You can always share this information here on Social Ocean socials.
But better yet, join the other 5,000 fans in the dedicated Facebook group to get all the info as it comes to light 💡

Yikes 🔔📣🗯 We can't believe this year's Summer Sunset Vibes event is just a week away 🤩 don't blink and miss out on booking one of the final tickets to join us at Sandgate next Friday evening.
On Friday it was all about that pool 💙💦 With a poolside lunch event for the Women in Fashion Awards to boot.
Joining the best guest Helen from Bayside Elements boutique in Sandgate, our lunch turned into dinner! Potentially no surprises there as I got to enjoy being the guest at a long lunch instead of hosting one 🥰
We were able to be there supporting our beautiful & creative client Maree, from Dezignz by Maree - Made With Love Millinery. We've worked consistently with Maree assisting with her annual open studio & SMM across the last quarter - celebrating everything millinery in what has been one of her busiest seasons of making & selling.
🤯 The iconic Stefan was a guest speaker alongside Di Cant OAM & Kerri Craig-Lee, quite literally all of Brisbane's fashion icons from my youth were there.
🍾 We had the best of company on our table, with fellow SEQ business owners, fashion photographer Dan from Dan Molloy Photography, Deb & Belinda from We The Cartel, as well as Myles from .
And it wouldn't be a Brisbane fashion event without running into great friend Rudi & cousin-in-law Cathi!
The company was fabulous & the venue is now on the LWLL list for future lunch potential 😍🤩
And now, we're back to reality, whilst thinking of how to make our own pool THE Friday office destination in future 😉
