Happy birthday to Kirsty! As the only HR process in place at Social Ocean HQ, Kirsty gets a day off today to do anything she likes 🎊🎂

And what she liked this year was make her one day become a few days, so the office is closed until Tuesday (thanks King Charles!).

These are signed footy boots from The Hammer! That's right - the man himself, Hamiso Tabuai-Fidow from the Dolphins NRL team. And they'll be up for Auction at the Crew Legal Spring Gala Ball at the end of the month.

🤯😳 Almost Scammed! Here’s what happened…

This week I nearly got caught by a fake advert on Facebook Marketplace 👀

It was a paid ad using the Meta system to advertise products for an event styling company, and the link it sent me to was a website that looked so professional I honestly thought it was legit.

I've actually gone back to this site several times over the last week - scrolling through products, reading their policies and terms & conditions. I was literally going through everything - including checking the fine print.

🧐 But something didn’t sit right… the prices seemed too good to be true.

It wasn’t until I spoke with a friend who had purchased similar styling products before my suspicions were confirmed. The company she purchased from was familiar to me. Not because I'd used it myself - because the scam website had stolen all of their product photos (using the other companies branding on them!!!!) to make themselves look real 😡😫 No wonder the photography looked so good!

💡 Lesson learned: If something feels off - trust your gut. Cross-check with people you trust, and don’t be fooled by a polished website. Scammers are getting smarter, but so can we.

Word on the street is that there is only a handful of tickets left for the 2025 Spring Gala Ball 👏👏 This sensational evening will be held on Friday, 17 October 2025 and will be raising funds for Raise it for Redcliffe Hospital .

This year Crew Legal aim to raise enough funds to purchase a BabyRoo Neonatal Resuscitation Open Care Warmer Trolley for use in the NICU.

Last years' event was a sell out, and together we raised over $42,000. To get that close again, we need your help to put the FUN in fundraising. Prepare to FROCK UP with us, and party the night away at the Redcliffe Leagues Club.

If you Admin or run a Facebook Group, the biggest change coming your way is the removal of the Community chat feature.

We'll be honest. We aren't sad about this at all!

As personal users, we Mute these, remove ourselves from Chats we're added to, Decline invites to participate & generally ignore them. "Chats" have become added noise that Users do not like - and therefore their popularity has declined so significantly the feature is being removed.

If you've been using Chats linked to your Facebook Groups they'll be permanently deleted.

You can download the messages from your Accounts Centre if you think there would be valuable content within these Chats.

But there won't be any other changes to your group on Facebook stopping you from staying connected with your community at this time. If you're engagement has been low & you've been relying on these chats to keep members involved, now is a good time to take stock of that & see how you can initiate fresh ideas for engagement.

For us, we'll return to having our Chats in person!
