Coffs Harbour Regional Conservatorium Where Music Lives and Creativity Flourishes
www.coffscon.org.au Coffs Harbour Regional Conservatorium is THE place where music lives!

Since its formation in 1984, thousands of students have enrolled for lessons, courses, ensembles and workshops at the Conservatorium or within school-based programs managed by the Conservatorium. Most have achieved a level of proficiency that has enabled them to be involved in music making throughout their lives - some have progressed to the level of professional performers and teachers - all have

experienced the joy of music as a form of personal creativity and expression. Located on the mid north coast of NSW, students attend from a wide geographic area - Woolgoolga in the north, to Nambucca Heads south of Coffs Harbour, and inland to Bellingen and Dorrigo. A wide range of music styles and programs are offered, to suit students of all ages, levels of expertise, musical experience and creative aspiration. The Conservatorium is a member of the Association of NSW Regional Conservatoriums, is listed on the Register of Cultural Organisations , and receives operational grants from the NSW Government through the NSW Department of Education and Communities.

We have some wildly talented students here at The Con, and it doesn’t get much better than these two!

Here we have Taavi Miles (Blinding Lights) and scholarship recipient Lucas Burridge (Burn For You), who were two of the many talented students showcased at the Contemporary Concert last week.

Well done boys! We can’t wait to see you at our next concert.

This year as we celebrate 40 years of the Conservatorium, we also celebrate Lesley Schoer who has recently retired from the President and Chair of the Board of Directors at the Conservatorium after 14 years.

Lesley’s nurturing presence, combined with her love, grace and passion, has shaped the Conservatorium into what it is today and will continue to resonate long after her departure.

As she takes a step back from her leadership role, the staff and students of the Conservatorium want to express our deep gratitude for her outstanding leadership, dedication and service. Lesley will have a lasting legacy here at The Conservatorium and we wish her the best for what is next to come

Our full dedication is on our website: https://www.coffscon.org.au/news/thank-you-lesley/

This week we were lucky enough to have a look into Molly’s guitar lesson with Emiliano. Molly is one of our stellar guitar students here at The Con playing ‘Minuet In G’. Echoing Emiliano’s crowd roar, we are so proud of Molly - well done!

As we are starting to round out the year, we are taking the time to look back on some amazing performances in our space.

These fantastic faces are from our Young Performers Concert earlier this term.

They may be some of our youngest students but they are also some of our most talented.

We are so proud of those who performed - here are some of our favourite shots from the night.

Our beautiful 'Enrichment' Early Childhood Music class, taught by the amazing Anna Plunket.

These mini musicians are learning musical experiences which are developmentally appropriate and selected to consider a child's interest and abilities under the Kodaly pedagogy. This musical environment is organised and created in a way to support a child's sense of security, self esteem and long term enthusiasm for music.

It was such a pleasure to see them in action this week. We have a few spots available for next year from ages 6 months to 5 years we have the classes suited to all ages.

Enquire through the information on the last slide.

Joining a choir is amazing for so many reasons - you may even get to sing with Coldplay!

We have our Conservatorium Singers doing their own performance at Nambucca Heads on the 2nd of December, make sure you check it out!

Our humble community choir in Melbourne's west has no business hearing from one of the biggest bands in the world. But last week, we suddenly found ourselves sharing the stage with Coldplay.

We have a new section on our social media highlighting some of our amazing students we have here at The Con.

The first spotlight is on one of our amazing vocal student Zahra Crawley.

Zahra, with the help of her teacher Luke, entered into the Coffs Eisteddfod and went on to win THREE categories! She won awards for ‘Contemporary Vocal’, ‘Musical Theatre’ and the ‘Most Promising Performer’. As well as this, Zahra was awarded with the Junior Scholarship for her Musical Theatre Performance!

This is an amazing achievement and we are so proud of Zahra – WELL DONE!

If you are a student of The Con and have done something amazing like Zahra, let us know and you could be our next student spotlight.
