Coffs Harbour Regional Conservatorium Where Music Lives and Creativity Flourishes
www.coffscon.org.au Coffs Harbour Regional Conservatorium is THE place where music lives!

Since its formation in 1984, thousands of students have enrolled for lessons, courses, ensembles and workshops at the Conservatorium or within school-based programs managed by the Conservatorium. Most have achieved a level of proficiency that has enabled them to be involved in music making throughout their lives - some have progressed to the level of professional performers and teachers - all have

experienced the joy of music as a form of personal creativity and expression. Located on the mid north coast of NSW, students attend from a wide geographic area - Woolgoolga in the north, to Nambucca Heads south of Coffs Harbour, and inland to Bellingen and Dorrigo. A wide range of music styles and programs are offered, to suit students of all ages, levels of expertise, musical experience and creative aspiration. The Conservatorium is a member of the Association of NSW Regional Conservatoriums, is listed on the Register of Cultural Organisations , and receives operational grants from the NSW Government through the NSW Department of Education and Communities.

As we continue to celebrate our 40th anniversary, we look back on the amazing leadership that has led us to where we are today.

The faces as shown above have shaped The Con and we are lucky to have had the pleasure of their presence in our community.

Take a look and see if you can recognise some faces from our past.

Our 40th anniversary celebrations start today and to start let's take you for a trip down memory lane, well Earl Street in 1980 to be exact, which was when the Conservatorium began!

These photos here are of our current Bray Street building in the early 2000s when the disco floor of a night club was turned into our beautiful performance space. The very performance space that we'll be having our Gala Concert in on Saturday night at 7pm.
(Tickets still available)

CHRC IS TURNING 40!

The Coffs Con 40th Celebration weekend is packed with exciting and rewarding musical experiences. Here's what's happening!

- the public events start on Saturday morning at 9:30am at the Bray St premises.

- static displays will give a summary of the Conservatorium’s history and some of the instruments and facilities we use in our teaching and performance programs.

- you will also have an opportunity to chat to some of our tutors and possibly try an instrument or take a few minutes instruction with an expert. You never know where that may lead!

- sit in on a rehearsal! Rehearsals in the theatre will be occurring during the day and you can watch our staff at work with various ensembles.

- our Early Childhood Music staff will run an open class in the morning and then a session where children can try some of the various instruments used in this teaching program.

- buskers will provide entertainment throughout the day (please bring some change for them!) and there will be a free lunchtime concert at 1:00.

- food and drinks will be available from food vans out the front of our building or there is the Greenhouse Tavern straight across the car park and Hungry Jacks a few steps down the lane!

Saturday night is our Gala Concert, a massive celebration of our staff and students with a few guests! Come and be enthralled by a truly kaleidoscopic musical event with jazz and popular gems to classical masterpieces with a couple of world premieres thrown in for good measure!
