So you have met Michelle and Bernie, next to met is the lovely Jen. We have been blessed to have her since last year and with her kind nature and experience, she is a wonderful asset to the team!

Jen’s florist journey started over 40 years ago with her starting her apprenticeship at Irelands florist in Preston at the tender age of 16.
Jen has worked for a number of florists over the past 40 plus years and has also worked in emergency services, manufacturing and the caravan industry.

Jen and husband Steve moved to the area in early 2020 and settled comfortably into the area by joining a number of local community groups such as the CFA and CWA.
Jen is no stranger to Colac as her mum was born here and grew up in the local area, as such there were many times spent with her grandparents in Colac in her younger years.

Jen’s favorite arrangements to do are funeral work as she likes to make sure a loved one’s departure is remembered with beautiful blooms.

So you’ve been introduced to me (Michelle), so now it’s time to introduce you to Bernie (Bee)….

You may have seen Bee’s friendly face in Woolies, or kindergarten or school drop off’s.
Bee has a very happy personality and is always willing to help, going over and beyond!

She has worked in a few roles over the years, in office administration, customer service, early childhood education and education support.
Bee started with me in the humble beginnings of Twisted Willows journey 3 years ago, and you will find her busy making our yummy goody boxes and gorgeous little floral displays.
What you may not know is that she also worked with me back when I had my previous florist, so she has been around the florist industry for quite a while!

Did you know…. Our little florist has been operating for over 3 years now!!

So I thought it might be nice to introduce myself and then start introducing my awesome little team!!

For those who don’t know me, I’m Michelle and have been a florist for over 20 years!!
I purchased Oakmoss Florist way back when I was 21. And I was lucky enough to be awarded with young business achiever that first year of being the new owner.
After starting my family, I took a bit of time off and sold my little florist. Admittedly I couldn’t quite keep away from being a little creative, making bunches and arrangements for personal gifts and wedding and funeral flowers for those I was close with.

My journey then took my partner and I on a new adventure, purchasing the Elliminyt Mini Mart. Having this business for over 5 years it was time to move on and that’s when my journey took me back to where it all began, floristry!
I was given an opportunity to start again by opening Twisted Willow Florist.
And there you have it, a little overview of how I got to where I am now.

I love creating and expressing through floral design but I love how we get to be a part of all your lives in one way, shape or form. What we create is a part of something important or special in your life and each arrangement, bunch, wedding or funeral flowers I create is taken with consideration and thought.
Pretty lucky aren’t I!!

Mother’s Day is just around the corner…
Well it’s less than a week away!

But don’t stress, the busy little bees here at Twisted Willow Florist have been getting everything ready to make Mother’s Day easy for you.
We have the shop stocked full of good boxes, both yummy ones and pretty ones, we have beautiful plants, hampers, soaps and candles and more, and of course FLOWERS!!!

Keep in mind we do deliver including on Mother’s Day - so if you can’t see your mum on that special day, she won’t be forgotten.

How cool are these cards…
We have cards made with love from ‘Handmade Kingdom’. This awesome lady collects sea glass, beach pebbles and other little gems from along the mornington peninsula to create these unique beautiful cards!
We also have cards created by ‘Art by Claudia and Joe’. Not only are these cards created with original artwork by Claudia and Joe but the envelope contains tiny native flower seeds. So don’t throw out the envelope, instead plant the envelope to see the gift that keeps growing!
I’m pretty excited to stock some pretty special Australian made cards that compliment our beautiful flowers!

How blessed have the team and I been, to be able to create some special goodies and flowers for some wonderful people, especially over these past few days leading up to Christmas!
We’ve had so many smiling faces and many good wishes for our Christmas and new year, so thank you for your kindness.

We are open tomorrow for last minute flowers and gifts 9am-12pm.

We have a handful of table centers left made with fresh flowers and succulants - a gift that keeps on giving by growing!
Plenty of arrangements and bunches to choose from.
And my amazing little ‘elves’ have been incredibly busy making our awesome little box of goodies just in case you are short of that little gift.

I’m sure you’re already for Christmas - you have all those goodies wrapped up and looking sparkling under the tree, you have your food planned out, who’s doing what when, you have those little token items for the extras who turned up unexpectedly, you have you’re all organised… right???

Well, just in case you’re not quite there -
we have lots of little goodies stocked up, goody boxes (great as little gift or to add to if giving a voucher but would like something to go with the card), dried arrangements, soaps and candles, hampers, pots and of course flowers!

🌺Sometimes we are lucky enough to have some local people who have enough beautiful natives, proteas, Waratah’s in their garden to be able to sell them to us!
The great thing is that not only are we able to support them, they’re supporting our little florist but the bonus is that they don’t come from market so we can pass on the savings to all our customers and they will be the freshest we can possibly get.
When we can, we create cute little bunches and posies ready to go that has some local flowers in them. The aim is to be able to give people a pretty bunch without it costing too much. Bunches vary in price from $18-$25.
We never know what the weeks may bring in but what a nice little something to give to someone or to keep yourself 😊🌺

Well it was a pretty big week last week for us and I just want to thank all my beautiful people who worked so hard to make Mothers Day so stress free and run smoothly - you all bring something different to our team and it doesn’t go unnoticed!!

To the mums out there, whether you are a mum, grandma, great grandma, step mum, foster mum, ‘fill in mum’ and every mum in between, who will always put themselves last, give up their time and sleep, not because you have to but because you want to - knowing these beautiful beings are truly the best.
Don’t ever for one second question that you are not doing your best, don’t compare to others and don’t wish…. If only I could…You ARE the best mum for your kids - You are enough.

Remember the days are long but the years are short - try to enjoy the little moments

What a beautiful day we had to remember our ANZACS today!
Time passes so quickly and it’s easy to forget at times even what the day or date is!
But let us never forget this day - a time of reflection and a time to come together, in amongst a world that can be a little crazy - let us be reminded on this day how we can be united together, just as those men and women from all different stages of life, with different ideas and thoughts came together, united.

This post is a little more serious than usual and it’s taken me a long time to decide to post something like this or not, so please know I mean not to offend.

After speaking to a gentleman months ago about the passing of his loved one, it made me aware of the imporance of this topic even though not an easy one. I realized the imporance of what people should know and what goes on behind the scenes here at Twisted Willow.

Funerals are such a difficult time for those loved ones and the hurt, sadness and pain they must be feeling. That’s why for me is such an honor to create a beautiful arrangement on behalf of their loved ones.

For me, these flowers are the last thing their loved ones see and it’s something that hopefully represents that person (as much as flowers can).
For me personally when I have the honor of creating these flowers, I want to give this much loved person as much time and attention as I can. So either when my kids have gone to bed or earlier hours of the morning you may see my shop lights on.
When all is quiet, I put some soft music on and spend my time on this very special arrangement. No distractions, no outside noise. I hope by doing this I can put my all into something for a family who are going through one of the most difficult times in their lives.

Just a shout out to some of our local growers - Ellie, Holly, Jacki, Jill, Natasha, Sue and Susan 💐
It’s even more special when you can use flowers locally grown, supporting each other but also having an even better quality of flowers.
The seasons can be so unpredictable and can turn in a moment, one day sunny the next day flooding!
I’m sure it’s definitely not easy at times - but when you overcome these challenges, the results are absolutely beautiful!!

It’s such a beautiful time of year - looking outside of an evening and seeing the beautiful colors in the sky’s of the sunsets being formed. It’s incredible how each day/evening changes and we can see so much beauty.

Delivering flowers and helping people choose their gift and flowers brings so much joy to us so thank you for letting us be a part of that happiness the day represents!

It’s beginning to look a lot like Christmas!!!
It’s only a few days away and the girls and I have been like busy little elves getting ready!

For that extra little something… we have goody boxes, candles and soaps (did you know that they are organic soaps and Australian made - you can choose 3 soaps to go in a cute little box), terrariums, pamper boxes, Christmas dried and artificial arrangements and of course fresh flowers arriving daily.
