Sometimes we can all get a little busy, life is busy but there is one day every year that we stop for a moment to acknowledge all the beautiful mums out there.

Unfortunately I’m posting this for a negative reason, and for those who know me, know I’m generally a positive person! So I really don’t like having a downer post but I think it’s probably worth mentioning.

Thursday morning (before our business was open), we had some flowers delivered and left in a safe and discrete place for me to collect once I arrived. Unfortunately when I did arrive, I found that our flowers had been stolen!
It was a full bucket of gerberas (similar to the photo), which means either someone was carrying around a big bucket or gerberas or they had a car to take them in.

It does puzzle us in why someone would take such a large amount of flowers, what would they do with that amount?
Even though it has much value for myself in my business, it has minimal value to the everyday person.
Being a small business, these flowers are our way of living. They supply our customers with ways of expressing care, love, support, joy, these flowers also support my employees, paying their wages and giving them employment and it also supports other businesses by us purchasing off other small local businesses.
It’s sad when some people do not see the true value of what they chose to take. Some of these flowers were also to be used for funeral flowers.

So to whoever did take these flowers, I hope truly that what you took was used to bring others some joy. Gerberas are what we call the happy flowers, so I hope you shared them with people who really did need some happiness in their life.

I can’t believe Christmas is just around the corner or should I say just after the weekend!!
The girls and I have been super busy, putting our talents to good use and have been creating some little treats for you to share with your family and loved ones.
Yummy goody boxes, boxes to pamper, hampers, our ‘special’ chocolate boxes, terrariums, dried arrangements and most importantly our beautiful arrangements and bunches!

Have we got your attention with our Christmas window????

So I think this is the perfect time to introduce our little Christmas helper, Kellie, who put so much time and energy into creating this spectacular window display for us all to enjoy!

Kellie has been at Twisted Willow Florist for about 6 months now and you may of seen her in different retail and hospitality businesses and at Jo’s pantry.
Kellie has 4 kids and even though wanting to pursue floristry, it wasn’t until 2020 when the kids were older that she was able to begin to follow her passion, by studying floristry. After this she grew her flower knowledge and started her own micro flower farm.
As you can see, Kellie loves to be creative and unique and always looking to add to her knowledge in new and interesteing styles at every opportunity.

So you have met Michelle and Bernie, next to met is the lovely Jen. We have been blessed to have her since last year and with her kind nature and experience, she is a wonderful asset to the team!

Jen’s florist journey started over 40 years ago with her starting her apprenticeship at Irelands florist in Preston at the tender age of 16.
Jen has worked for a number of florists over the past 40 plus years and has also worked in emergency services, manufacturing and the caravan industry.

Jen and husband Steve moved to the area in early 2020 and settled comfortably into the area by joining a number of local community groups such as the CFA and CWA.
Jen is no stranger to Colac as her mum was born here and grew up in the local area, as such there were many times spent with her grandparents in Colac in her younger years.

Jen’s favorite arrangements to do are funeral work as she likes to make sure a loved one’s departure is remembered with beautiful blooms.

So you’ve been introduced to me (Michelle), so now it’s time to introduce you to Bernie (Bee)….

You may have seen Bee’s friendly face in Woolies, or kindergarten or school drop off’s.
Bee has a very happy personality and is always willing to help, going over and beyond!

She has worked in a few roles over the years, in office administration, customer service, early childhood education and education support.
Bee started with me in the humble beginnings of Twisted Willows journey 3 years ago, and you will find her busy making our yummy goody boxes and gorgeous little floral displays.
What you may not know is that she also worked with me back when I had my previous florist, so she has been around the florist industry for quite a while!

Did you know…. Our little florist has been operating for over 3 years now!!

So I thought it might be nice to introduce myself and then start introducing my awesome little team!!

For those who don’t know me, I’m Michelle and have been a florist for over 20 years!!
I purchased Oakmoss Florist way back when I was 21. And I was lucky enough to be awarded with young business achiever that first year of being the new owner.
After starting my family, I took a bit of time off and sold my little florist. Admittedly I couldn’t quite keep away from being a little creative, making bunches and arrangements for personal gifts and wedding and funeral flowers for those I was close with.

My journey then took my partner and I on a new adventure, purchasing the Elliminyt Mini Mart. Having this business for over 5 years it was time to move on and that’s when my journey took me back to where it all began, floristry!
I was given an opportunity to start again by opening Twisted Willow Florist.
And there you have it, a little overview of how I got to where I am now.

I love creating and expressing through floral design but I love how we get to be a part of all your lives in one way, shape or form. What we create is a part of something important or special in your life and each arrangement, bunch, wedding or funeral flowers I create is taken with consideration and thought.
Pretty lucky aren’t I!!

Mother’s Day is just around the corner…
Well it’s less than a week away!

But don’t stress, the busy little bees here at Twisted Willow Florist have been getting everything ready to make Mother’s Day easy for you.
We have the shop stocked full of good boxes, both yummy ones and pretty ones, we have beautiful plants, hampers, soaps and candles and more, and of course FLOWERS!!!

Keep in mind we do deliver including on Mother’s Day - so if you can’t see your mum on that special day, she won’t be forgotten.

How cool are these cards…
We have cards made with love from ‘Handmade Kingdom’. This awesome lady collects sea glass, beach pebbles and other little gems from along the mornington peninsula to create these unique beautiful cards!
We also have cards created by ‘Art by Claudia and Joe’. Not only are these cards created with original artwork by Claudia and Joe but the envelope contains tiny native flower seeds. So don’t throw out the envelope, instead plant the envelope to see the gift that keeps growing!
I’m pretty excited to stock some pretty special Australian made cards that compliment our beautiful flowers!
