We're incredibly proud to be featured in the Top 100 Wineries of 2024 -revealed today. One of four Yarra Valley wineries to make the top 10!

Here's what the Halliday Wine Companion had to say about our inclusion:

While the estate has a history (originally on a different site) dating back to 1978, unlike other Yarra pioneers, Oakridge’s prestige is entirely current, radiating from the two-decade-long stewardship of Dave Bicknell. In that time, he has been justly lauded for his major influence on changing the direction of Australian chardonnay, while also celebrating some of the Yarra’s finest vineyards. Those sites, proudly emblazoned across a legion of bottlings, are prime vineyards farmed meticulously and sustainably by Steve Faulkner, or under his oversight in league with leading growers. Today, the chardonnays have never been better – the 2022 864 Funder & Diamond was the 2025 Halliday Wine Companion Wine of the Year – but it’s Oakridge’s excellence across the board, from sparkling through to cabernet, that truly defines this modern titan. In the 2025 Companion, the wines racked up 20 gold-medal scores, with eight scoring 97 and over. That’s an astonishing result, but it’s also totally unsurprising.

🍷 Happy International Cabernet Day! 🍇

Today, we're celebrating another of the Yarra Valley's standout varietals—Cabernet Sauvignon. With its roots in our region dating back to the 19th century, this grape thrives in our cooler climate, where warm days and cool nights create the perfect balance of acidity and tannins, resulting in wines of exceptional elegance and purity.

A prime example is our 2021 Original Vineyard Cabernet Sauvignon. Sourced from the Five Oaks vineyard in Wandin East, this medium-bodied beauty was awarded an impressive 97 points in the . Here’s what Philip Rich from the Wine Companion had to say about the 2021 vintage:

"Matured for 15 months in French barriques (35% new). A bright, medium deep crimson purple. Fragrant with aromas of cassis, violets, hawthorn and cedar. Fine-boned and elegant, but not lacking concentration, there's an old-vine creaminess on the mid-palate. While the wine's very fine-grained and gently chewy tannins will ensure this can be cellared for a decade (or probably two), no one who opens a bottle or two along the way will be disappointed."

As we let this incredible moment sink in, we'd like to express our gratitude to the and to their incredible judging team, who tasted their way through nearly 7,500 entries to get to this point – what a feat!⁠

Our Chief Winemaker, David Bicknell was typically humble in his response to the win, “It’s the culmination of a generation’s work, involving a whole group of people. And we’ve got a team of amazing depth and talent. It’s important to recognise Steve, Georgie and the viticultural team and the work they’ve put in, because that gives us the ability in the winery to create something like this.” ⁠

We would also like to acknowledge the success of our Senior Viticulturist, Steve Faulkner, who was a finalist in this year's awards for Viticulturist of the Year.⁠
