With a love of helping people to create beauty and balance in their homes and lives, my life has been one of constant change absorbing the many modalities that make up the Annie Package. Sustainable housing, Feng Shui, Reiki, energy balancing in homes, and creating mandalas for my clients have always been a passion of mine and so they formed a strong part of my offerings. With formal training in

art and design I set up my own interior design business in Perth and somehow blended them into one. Little did I know at the time, that so many years later, when I entered the world of real estate, all these things would be invaluable in helping people prepare their homes for sale. My belief has always been -

“Everything has beauty, you just have to look for it”

Layering Rugs!

Layering rugs is a great way to add warmth, character and texture to your home🏡

Here are some examples of what strategically placed rugs can do:

1️⃣ Highlight an area - layering a small rug on a large one directs the eye to that specific area.
2️⃣ Define a space - standard rug rules say there should be approximately 25-50cm of bare floor between the edges of an area rug and the walls of a room and that most furniture should be sitting on the rug.
3️⃣ Introduce Colour - layering rugs is a great way to bring colour and patterns into a room
4️⃣ Add Texture - It doesn't have to be colour that you add. It can be cowhide or sheepskin on a sisal or jute base rug that can create a fabulous look.

What is your favourite rug layering tip? Comment below.

When you are changing up your home decor, you need to have a plan, a vision.

It doesn't have to be sophisticated, but you need to have at least looked through some magazines, or saved some pins on Pinterest or researched on Google.

That way you will be able to see some styles and colours coming through. You could even create a vision board to build your style.

If you need some help creating your vision, please let me know. I would love to help you.

Before you start on any new styling project, you need to think about decluttering your home!

Here are 5 tips to get you started:

1️⃣ Give one item away each day - think about it - this would remove 365 items from your house in a year😯
2️⃣ Fill an entire garbage bag with items you could donate to Charity.
3️⃣ Donate clothes you never wear or haven't worn for the past year!
4️⃣ Start with just 5 minutes decluttering at a time and slowly build up.
5️⃣ View your home as a visitor and take note of what others see.

What's your biggest challenge with decluttering?

Your home should be your safe haven and you should be surrounded by things you love. It is a reflection of you.

The painter is almost finished so things are starting to take shape.

I have chosen a restful deep green (Dulux Oyster Linen) for the dining area to set it apart from the remainder of the living area, which is Dulux Natural White.

The architraves and skirtings are Dulux Vivid White.

My client can't wait to start placing all her goodies in their fresh new space!✨

Here are 5 smart ideas to help you transform a space quickly and on a budget:

1️⃣ Cosy up a reading spot - convert a small space in your home into a reading nook. Grab a chair, a lamp, and a cushion and throw rug and you are good to go.

2️⃣ Re-style a bookshelf - don't just think books (although you could colour code these😉), you could add in decor accents and accessories like vases and sculptures.

3️⃣ Spruce up your entryway. You don't need to have a grand entrance. Add in a small console table then add flowers and a painting

4️⃣ Swap out pillows and cushions - give your living room or bedroom a new look - introduce a new colour or print to give the space a whole new feel

5️⃣ Layer rugs and patterns - layering rugs, prints and textures adds visual interest to a space. Try it for a stunning effect.

Here's some home styling tips to brighten up your home in winter!🏡

🏠 Remove clutter from surfaces and areas to make the area look bigger

🏠 Walk around your house and identify any areas that are dark. Consider using lamps to make spaces look brighter and lighter.

🏠 Add greenery indoors - pick flowers or pot greenery from outside to bring indoors.💐

🏠 Consider using a colour scheme in your home with homewares, cushions, throw blankets, artwork, bedlinen.

🏠 Play around with room layouts. Move furniture around to make the room look bigger and give a different feel.

If you are thinking of redecorating a space, you need to have a clear idea of the type of style or colour palette you want to use.

Some interior design styles are:
✅ Contemporary

✅ Provincial
✅ Mid century modern
✅ Industrial
✅ Scandinavian
✅ Luxe

Do you lack storage space in your home?

You can never have too much storage.

Here are 3 tips to maximise space and solve storage problems.

1️⃣ Use cleverly designed multi-use furniture, such as under-bed storage, coffee tables with drawers or shelves

2️⃣ Use floor-to-ceiling bookshelves - these can be inexpensive and take up little room but offer so much space

3️⃣ Use hanging storage such as over the door for shoes, belts etc or use tension poles on cupboard doors or in cupboards to attach cleaning items

Do you have any other great space-saving storage tips? What has been most useful for you?

Many people think that when mixing patterns, you should stick to the same colour palette, but sometimes this can end up looking staged.

Contrast can be good - try adding something unexpected to the colour mix.

Maybe try combining a geometrical print with a botanical or floral print or adding black to a brightly coloured scheme.

Pick your hero pattern first and decide where you will use it. It's often good to make this the largest piece in the room so a sofa or bedhead is ideal.

Contrast organic and structured geometrics with plain fabrics or ones with smaller patterns. This helps them to co-ordinate.

It is always a good idea to look at textile swatches in a flatlay so that you can see how they work together. That way you will not be surprised or overwhelmed when you finish a room.

If you need any help deciding on colours or patterns, give me a call and we can work through your colour palette together.

DM me if you have any questions.

YOUR HOME YOUR HEART

I have renamed my page to reflect more of who I am and what I would like to share, which is about us as spiritual beings and the spaces we create around ourselves to conduct everyday life.

My new cover shot is a mandala I drew for a client many years ago, one for her to meditate with and to find a sense of peace at the end of a busy working day. The eye is drawn to the centre of the image, and this helps to let the chatter fall away and healing to begin. Sometimes, for the page, I will draw a simple geometric shape, and it will have meaning; this I will share with you in just a few words in the post.

Real Estate listings, articles on colour, space, Feng Shui and generally creating beauty around us are some of the things that will cross my page.

I do hope you enjoy,
