You came into this world 69 years ago, today…. You were nicknamed the ‘golden child’… the last 22 years revealed you as the man with the ‘golden heart’.. I will celebrate you for the rest of my life honey…

“I miss you”…doesn’t even begin to express how much.

I managed to bake a ‘lemon myrtle cheesecake, w’ h**p seed crust, vanilla bean cream & pistachio praline’… you would be so proud of me bubby!

Happy Birthday darling man, wherever you are, I love you. ###

Happy Fathers day my darling David. Today is one of those days I remember the father in you., not because you experienced fatherhood… you didn’t get to fully realise the truth of it… yet you always carried the love of a father, the tolerance, the patience, the hope of sharing the love you felt for your son… to me this has been one of the truest expressions of who you are…

This day, every year you quietly held the hope… the hope he would show some sign of wanting to truly know you, the hope his pain would break and let you in…

You kept the door open for him to step through..., you never waivered, your patience and your unending gift of love for him, no matter what he did (or didn’t do) made me love you all the more and has been one of the greatest gifts you have given me.

I miss you every single second of every moment of every day… my darling man, wherever you are, keep surfing while you wait for me… I long to see your face and hear your voice again… I love you with every beat of my heart.

In the beginning, if there was a beginning… I loved YOU.

It is with a deeply shattered and devastated heart I must announce the (sudden) passing of David Gregory Dunn; 4:44pm on 4th/4/2024.

The ingredient listing of your essence is almost unspeakable, yet the recipe includes; kindness personified, gentle persuasion, immeasurable tolerance, extra-ordinary talent, dedicated perfection, constant contribution to the happiness of all around you, calm beyond explanation, knowing & intuitive, understanding of the human condition… and so much more my darling man…

Your talent & contribution to the world of food and flavour has not gone un-noticed… the experience of bliss you provide each and every time, without fail, will be remembered.

You are the Chefing Surfer… not the Surfing Chef... your priorities were always in order.

You understood me, you loved me & you took care of me…. It is beyond my comprehension how I will to live without you by my side… I am in shock & disbelief… until we are together again my dearest, deepest love… wait for me… you are, and will always be, my Davey. To the end, if there is ever an end… I will continue to love YOU.

For the world of those who knew and loved David, a “memorial paddle out” at Crescent Head will be announced and details posted here in due course.

Our lovely restaurant has been sold... we know this is sad news for many who have become part of the Lumah experience, yet for us the timing is right.

We would like to express our deep gratitude for all the memories we carry of your support and custom... we were witness to your laughter, your joy, your delight and expressions of wonder as each delicious morsel was consumed.

Thank you for sharing the last 4 years with us, the journey has been a deeply personal experience and we will miss you all.

We return to our lovely property in Crescent Head with little Lumah safely tucked underarm awaiting the birth of new food adventures... so in the meantime, we are taking time to unwind, refresh, renew and rejuvenate ourselves... mind, body & soul.
