Valentine’s flowers deserve a little extra love—here’s how to keep them fresher for longer lovelies ♥️

1. Fresh water, always. Change it every second day to keep bacteria from building up. A couple of drops of bleach (yes, the regular kind from the supermarket) won’t harm your flowers but will stop bacteria from growing and making the stems slimy. Clean water is the easiest way to make blooms last.
2. Recut the stems on an angle every time you refresh the water. Cut them last and drop them straight back into the vase—stems seal up fast, and once they do, they won’t drink properly.
3. Keep them somewhere cool and out of direct sun. Florists sometimes place blooms in sunlight to encourage them to open, but if you want them to last, shade is best. Avoid aircon drafts or breezy spots—they make flowers fade faster.
4. Pull out any fading stems so the rest last longer. Flowers that are past their best can speed up wilting in the others, so it’s best to remove them as you go.
5. When most of the bouquet has had its moment, cut the last good stems to half their length and pop them into a little vase to enjoy for a few more days.
