Father’s Day is just around the corner! Is anybody wanting their delivery on Friday? As you know the Father’s Day boxes are filled with our Heat and eat range meaning they are delivered chilled with plenty of shelf life well after Father’s Day.

I’m offering anyone that has placed an order who doesn’t live in Doreen to have their order delivered Friday instead of Saturday. Spreading the deliveries over two days will mean we can get around much quicker on Saturday.

Good morning everybody, Matt here. You may have noticed things have been very quiet from me for the last couple of months and I should probably explain why that is. There’s actually a couple of reasons for this. The first one being that I have recently separated with my wife.

After we separated I was convinced that I’d sell the business and spend some much needed time with my two kids, something we all craved after myself still working full time through the week and cooking bbq most weekends also. As much as I love what I do, working all the time drove me into a pretty dark headspace. Somewhere I never want to be again.

I’ve been doing a lot of thinking over the last few months about the future of the business. To be honest I was done with it completely at first. The stress of a marriage breakdown, COVID and my own mental health issues had convinced me I no longer wanted to cook bbq. (Please don’t think this is a cry for sympathy either, as it certainly is not)

So after lots of time off, lots and lots of thinking, lots of much needed family time I have finally come to the conclusion that the business won’t be sold as yet. Although a lot of the assets of the business will be.

Moving forward though the future for Beefed up barbecue isn’t over just yet. I plan to downsize everything and go back to focusing on smaller functions that are far less stressful for me. This is how I originally started the business and it worked well then.

Catering Private functions and Heat and Eat packs will more than likely be the future for this little bbq business. This way I can still keep cooking bbq as it really is something I’m passionate about, but I won’t have the stress of the big jobs.

This way I can also choose when to work and this time round I’ve made a promise to myself to never again take on more work than I should.

I’m not sure when this will all happen but I will keep you posted as things progress. I know I say it a lot but you guys really are the best customers and I appreciate your business over the last 4 years more than you know!

Thanks for reading this guys. It’s never easy for me to talk about personal issues but after reading a post a few days ago from another bbq business owner going through some similar stuff, it gave me the kick in the ass I needed to write this. Tony if you’re reading this thanks for the motivation and know you’re not alone mate.

Here’s what you need to know for tomorrow night

This is the new trailer we will be serving out of as of tomorrow night. Still yet to be sign written as you can see. 🤦‍♂️

We will be at 1440 plenty road Mernda, which is the Supergym. Located directly next to the Shell petrol station and access is via Bridge inn road.

Parking is quite limited but there is ample parking at Coles, the pub and the petrol station. All within a very short walk.

This service will not be taking pre orders. We’ve factored that in and filled the smoker to the brim so we can feed you all. There’s several hundred kgs of meat so that should keep us going right through service.

Serving from 5pm - 9pm unless sold out. (Pretty unlikely)

Can’t wait to see you all again, it’s been far too long!

We’re back bigger and better than ever!!!

Save the date guys, This coming Friday 27th November 5pm - 9pm or until sold out.

We’re finally back into the swing of things with our first pop up takeaway event in some time. Come down and see us and check out the new trailer.

We won’t be taking pre orders for this one so getting in early is highly recommended. The smoker will be bursting at the seams though so there will be plenty to go around for at least the first couple of hours.

You’ll find us at 1440 Plenty Road Mernda. (Supergym) Located directly beside the Shell service station with access only via bridge inn road. Parking is limited, however parking at Coles, Bridge inn hotel or the service station are well within walking distance.

BREAKING NEWS!!!

After a much needed break we’re back as of next Friday 27th November 🥳

Lock it in guys, we will be serving up your favourite American barbecue fresh from the smoker. It will be a good old fashioned walk up service, no pre orders.

Address to be announced over the coming days but it is looking to be our new permanent venue all going well. Oh and it’s in Mernda 😊

This means the new trailer will finally get put to use regularly. Keep an eye on the socials guys, we’re absolutely pumped to be back!!!

Sooo we did a thing today. Introducing the newest member to our family. At over 6 metres long and 2.5 metres wide it sure makes one hell of a statement. The plan is to have it parked somewhere local so we can trade regularly once we’ve sorted sign writing etc. Stay tuned 👍🏼

I really wish I could have snuck in another bbq class before these restrictions came along. I thoroughly enjoy running these classes.

Really hands on for the whole group and we cook on everything from a roadside Weber right up to a big offset smoker and then of course a huge feast at the end. When the times right it will definitely be happening again!

Oh how I miss human interaction! Hope everyone’s doing alright out there 👍🏼

Remember that one time we rolled out this monstrosity? The 911 burger! Double wagyu beef patties, high melt cheese, maple candied bacon and a black onyx short rib. Might have to give it a go again.

In other news we’re still on the hunt for a new venue, haven’t found anything suitable as yet though. It’s only been a week but the bbq withdrawals are real! We will more than likely go back to our original business model for a bit and run local pop ups. It will be on a Saturday and we will be open for takeaway lunch and dinner. Doreen or Mernda to start with and we plan to venture out to other areas too. Happy Friday everybody 👍🏼

Hope everyone has received all their goodies for Father’s Day. What a hectic day it was with nearly 200 deliveries all over the northern suburbs, you guys sure kept us busy and we’re so grateful!

We do have a bit of our heat and eat range available for tomorrow if anyone would like to come down to the shop (25 Hazel Glen Drive Doreen) to pickup you’re welcome to. We will be there from 10:00am onward cleaning up so come on down. Stock list below. Threw some bits and pieces on the smoker today to test out a Father’s Day box. Can confirm it’s definitely a feast! 2 adults and 2 children in our house and we couldn’t finish it all with a salad. A pot of simmering water and dinner was served 👌

Absolutely lost for words guys. You people are amazing! Keeping us busier than ever through lockdown and we’re so grateful.

We doubled and even tripled the amount of some things for Father’s Day and it’s selling really well. There is a little bit of the following left still

The Father’s Day packs, ribs, shanks and brisket sold out very quickly unfortunately.

We’re still keeping our promise to you all after lockdowns over we’re having a big shindig to say thanks and you’re all invited!

Father’s Day orders are now up and open on the website 🥳 The only item that’s slightly limited is the big pack due to limited hats and stubby holders, but you can also buy everything separately without the pretty box. And there is double the amount of whats normally available!

We may not be trading for a little bit until we find a new venue, that’s why we’ve gone ballistic with the quantities this time around.

With Father’s Day fast approaching we thought we better update you all with what’s planned.

We’ve decided to offer our heat and eat range for Fathers Day instead of our hot delivered bbq for a few reasons.

We can service a much larger delivery area

We will do a double cook, meaning there’s twice the availability of our regular hot deliveries!

No waiting for your feast as it will be delivered on Saturday 5/9

For those that have already purchased our heat and eat range you’ll know it’s top notch and just as good as the our hot delivered bbq. The feedback has been amazing and we couldn’t be happier that you guys are loving it!

ISO is bloody tough for all of us but at least the foods decent, right? 😜

This will be by far our biggest delivery run to date. 2 refrigerated trucks loaded to the hilt travelling all over Melbourne! Check out the map and delivery suburbs below to see if you’re in the delivery area.
