Our Ladies and Mens Single finals were held Sunday 1st December. The weather was kind to us, sunshine through out the day with wind gusting at times. Our lady bowlers Jan Aubrey and Mary Firth had quite a tussle. Jan started off with a great lead bowling very well. Later on in the game Mary made a come back and did very well and only lost by a few shots.
Congratulations to Jan and commiserations to Mary.
Our male bowlers were Wayne Walsh and Vince Marcarealla with Wayne starting of with a good lead as well and enjoying a great game. He bowled very well . Vince got it together and also made a come back. Great bowling by both guys. Congratulations to Wayne and commiserations to Vince. Final scores were 25/19

Has anyone spotted a bald man that fell off his electric bike on the crossing near the Post Office in Drouin. Any information would be helpful, this poor guy smashed his mirror but his deepest lost was his diginity, and he is worried that he will get seven years bad luck.🪞 🪞 🪞 🚴‍♂️ 🚴‍♀️ 🚴😂🤣😂

What a wonderful day we had as we celebrated Melbourne Cup day once again. A beautiful sunny day with a good crowd. Music playing as we bowled, plenty of prises were won. A couple of Novelty games were held in good spirits. Good friendships and laughs among the bowlers. We had a few visitors as well, who enjoyed the day. Thank you to all the organisers ( the tournament committee) and anyone that helped on the day, and a big thankyou to Andy and helper Maureen for doing all the sweepes for the day.
A few extra photos have been put in that I missed.⭐️⭐️

Congratulations to our New Life Member Lorraine Fox. Nickname (Foxy). She has been a member of the DBC for many years and started bowling in 2004. Foxy has been a very valuable member and has been loved by all. She is also a Life Member of the Drouin Badminton Club. She loves the Drouin Football club and has been a member also for many years, still goes down to the club and supports the young footballers.
She has had quite a few positions in the club. Her first appointment was Ladies Committee as the Treasurer, as well as being part of the Board, and then Match and Tournament Selector for many years.
Lorraine helped Betty Nottage prepare and cook meals every two weeks on a Wednesday night for the Drouin Lions Club.
She then became the lady in charge of the kitchen and catered for Men's and Women's Invitation days, Tournaments and Funerals, Twilight bowls, as well she is still continuing to run the Fish and Chip nights on a Friday night, once every month.
Drouin Bowls Club appreciate all your hard work and your continued help throught out the club. Thank You.
Going back a few years, Lorraine's family were in the Bakery Business, her grandfather and grandmother had a business in Trafalgar in 1958 and later their parents opened a bakery in Drouin, so both Lorraine and her sister Helen worked in the bakery helping their parents. Lorraine is well known for her lovely sponges.
Helen and Lorraine are very close and are always together at the club, they enjoyed trips to Tasmania and South Australia when they were a lot younger, nowadays they often have lunches and enjoy socialising with their bowling friends.

Congratulations and a Happy 90th Birthday to Barrie (Bazz) Price, who has been a member of the Drouin Bowls Club for a number of years, he enjoys his bowls and having a drink with his mates.
With the help of his wife Gwen she has quite a few stories to tell us. Barrie Jamison Price was born on the 5/5/1934, and as a junior he had won awards in Boxing Life-Saving, Swimming and also enjoyed the Piano. Barrie started his teacher training at Bendigo Teachers College. After relief school stints, he became Head Teacher at Tesbury, just outside Camperdown, then a promation to Storehaven near Geelong, followed by another promation to Highton, although he was a very respected teacher and enjoyed his work, Barrie's only goal was to be a Farmer, so in 1965 the family moved to Nilma North. Another daughter was born in Warragul. A drought and the loss of their eldest daughter Karen surely tested the family. Gwen said looking back at the hard times made their famiy a lot stronger.
Bazz started his bowling career with Warragul on the 7/11/1992, he then joined Neerim Sth with success at both of the clubs, he then decided to join Drouin Bowls Club, to be with his wife (she thinks) haha!. Before taking up bowls he also enjoyed Football, Soccer, Golf and Tennis as well as Indoor Cricket. He also had the honour of becoming a Life-member of the Light Harness Club in Warragul as well as the Greyhound Club where he was the Gate-money man for over 25 years, he shuns being in the limelight and although these few lines don't cover half of his life he has lived.
His motto is: "l did it my way"and doing it the best that l can with the little l've got.
Barrie and Gwen had a wonderful day with family and friends to celebrate Bazz 90th, they would like to thank everyone for their best wishes, the many phone calls and especially their family. Gwen said Barrie was over joyed and had a great day. Thank you.

Yesterday we enjoyed the Drouin & Warragul RSL Grandfinal, which was held at Longwarry Bowls Club, between Graeme Aubrey and Vince Marcarelle. Vince was off to a good start and held a lead for quite a few ends, then Graeme got a few shots and started catching up, but Vince once again regained his position and won over all.
Congratulations to Vince and commiserations to Graeme, a good game to watch, Thank You to Longwarry club for allowing the guys to play undercover at their club. Photos to be added.
