Lilies have such a simple elegance. I remember the days when every wedding bouquet request was for open, white oriental lilies. I'd spend a nerve-wracking week or two trying to force my lilies to open; in front of the heater, in warm rooms, in warm water or delicately prying the petals open one by one. 🌿

Today Oriental lilies are banned from hospitals due to their pungent scent and ability to make allergy sufferers quiver. The above two alternatives, Asiatic lilies and Arum lilies are a little more comfortable to be around, and even more so by removing any of the pollen stamens.

✨Quick tip if you find dustings of brown pollen everywhere, don't brush it away - use a piece of sticky tape! It works like magic every-time!

We love the look of natural packaging but everything we do is more than skin deep.

It makes more sense for us to provide naturally beautiful flowers without the fluff and waste. 🍃

Instead we choose practical, reusable materials. Post-consumer recycled paper and repurposed glass jars for smaller bunches and now the new addition of hessian wrap and home-compostable ecomailers for larger bunches give us the warm feels. 🥰

Hessian is naturally biodegradable, great for craft projects and can be repurposed to protect plants from frost damage or severe weather.

We especially love pasta sauce, peanut butter or jam jars that you may have a collection of under your sink or in the corner cupboard (we know you have some sitting right at the back!) We would love to take them off your hands and free up some space!

At Twine and Stem we reuse these jars for our bouquets.
