From Parissa Bouris, "How've you been going? It's been such a strange 16 months, with both setbacks and new opportunities for many of us...me included! Last year I had a frozen shoulder and couldn't play guitar for most of the year...which was kind of ok as it turned out, as no one could play any gigs any ;-) but it made me more keen to play guitar as soon as I had a chance...which is where I'm at now!
"In this crazy time of uncertainty, I took the time to skill up and received a scholarship to study Music Production at SAE Creative Arts Campus in Byron...it meant I could still compose and record, even though I couldn't do it on a guitar. This has opened up a whole new realm of possibilities for me and I'm only a the point of glimpsing that still...with plans afoot to release later in the year...
Right now, I'm getting ready to play a concert that combines some of the new songs written in COVID times about love and resilience, with songs from previous Hottentots and solo albums, plus well loved covers you’ve never heard me sing before & a few Latin favourites...
"After many months of all my musical interactions being on computers, playing with real live musicians again is such a buzz!! I 'd forgotten how that energy feels...Zoom just doesn't capture it!!!
The concert will feature some of Byron’s best musicians including: Carl Cleves, James Ross, James Pattugalan, Shivam Rath, Sean Mackenzie, Elliott Orr, Steve 'Bongo' Nugent and more surprise guests will be sharing their musical talents, creating an almost music festival vibe…
"Earlier on, at 4.30pm some of my singing students will get their first chance to perform in front of some keen supporters and get a taste of live performance...you're welcome to come early and stay for the whole time."
