We're so lucky here in Australia to have access to the most unique and colourful natives, even in the cooler months!

Our Native Bunches have been bursting with colour thanks to gorgeous Cootamundra Wattle, Geraldton Wax Flower, and Banksia Coccineas 🌈

Thanks to our talented growers, we are also lucky enough to be able to get Susara Protea - a South African native that grows beautifully in our Victorian climate 🌱

Our Native Bunches are by far our most popular and long-lasting option, which is perfect during the chilly months when we all have the heaters blasting!

Our incredible trainee, Dina, arrived in Australia four years ago from Eritrea. After seven months with The Beautiful Bunch, Dina has graduated from our program to pursue a job at a Hair Salon, while also finishing her studies in Dental Technologies 🦷⁠

Dina was an integral part of our team, and cheered everyone up with her incredible laugh and one-liners! We will miss her dearly, however, we are very excited for her next chapter 🥰⁠

We thought we would share some of Dina's words about her time spent with us. ⁠

"When I first started at The Beautiful Bunch, I was feeling nervous about my English. Every morning, when Ri asked everyone what they did over the weekend and encouraged conversation, it helped me practice speaking. Now, I feel much more confident. These days, I feel like I can start conversations with strangers. My confidence has increased from 10% to 98%!⁠

At Bb*, I learned a lot about flowers. I became good at creating native bunches and learned how to care and prepare all the flowers. The Beautiful Bunch helped keep my brain active and taught me how to multi-task. I learned how to think ahead and know what to do next, and now it comes naturally to me. I also really enjoyed how everyone at work is different and shares their own opinions. We all talk and share like a family, it feels like we all love each other.⁠

Now that I am leaving, I feel a bit sad and hope to find people like this in future workplaces. However, I am excited about working in the hair salon, playing soccer and finishing my studies in Dental Tech." ❤️

Winter Wattle is in full swing 💛

We've been loving weaving this beautiful native into your arrangements, as it adds so much vibrancy and texture to each bouquet.

Did you know Wattle also holds a special place in Indigenous culture? For thousands of years, the blooms of the wattle tree have been used in ceremonies, symbolising new beginnings, growth, and spirituality ☀️

This NAIDOC week, and every week, we acknowledge the traditional custodians of the lands on which we work, and on which the flowers we work with are grown. We pay our respects to elders past, present and emerging, and acknowledge that sovereignty was never ceded. Always Was, Always Will Be Aboriginal land.

Back in May, we visited Melbourne's coolest flower farm and learnt all about how how they sustainably grow some of our favourite blooms 💐

We were lucky enough to take home some of the season's last Dahlias, Zinnias and Cosmos, crafting our very own beautiful bunches 🫶

And while you won't be seeing these particular flowers at Joe's right now, you can still head down each Saturday morning from 8:30am-1:00pm for Farm Gate & Coffee! 🥕☕️

We're so excited to share that Bb* Trainee Farzana has graduated after one year with us 🎊

Farzana arrived from Afghanistan two years ago, and after joining us, quickly became one of our strongest trainee florists. She excelled in creating beautiful corporate arrangements and understanding the individual needs and care for each flower.

Farzana's English speaking skills and confidence have flourished over the course of her year with Bb*, and we are so excited to see what she achieves as the focuses on her full-time study in Data Science and part-time work at a book store.

We asked Farzana to share some thoughts about her time as a Trainee Florist 💭

"I graduated in economics from Afghanistan in 2021 and then came to Australia. Adjusting here was really tough - new culture, new environment, everything was different. I worked hard to get my driving license and to study English. In a new country, everything was a challenge, like finding housing, transport, a job, and enrolling in University. Eventually, I found a job at the Beautiful Bunch and also started studying Data Science.

When I joined Bb*, I had to learn a lot. The workplace environment was so different from Afghanistan. I learned about communicating respectfully, showing kindness, and being polite. Little things like saying "excuse me" and "thank you" matter a lot here. In Afghanistan, we respected each other, but it wasn't as polite as it is here, and I think that's really good.

I learned a lot from my time at Bb*. I learned about flowers and how to take care of them. Making flowers for myself makes me really happy. I learned about arranging flowers and playing with colours. Everyone finds happiness in different things, and I have learnt mine is flowers.

Working here, I gained confidence and made good connections with people. I enjoyed communicating with the women at Bb*, who came from different cultures and backgrounds. It was a great learning experience and a chance to make friends.

Leaving Bb* makes me sad because I'll miss everyone. I know the program was for six months, but I ended up working here for a year. I'm excited about the future and my dream job. I want to say thank you to everyone - Jane, Riana, my colleagues - for all the help and friendship. Thank you."

1. Keep your flowers away from heaters and fireplaces (Winter can get chilly, but your flowers love it! ❄️)⁠

2. Ensure you're cutting your stems on an angle every couple of days ✂️⁠

3. Change the water in your vase each time you cut your stems, or when you see leaves or debris starting to build up 💦⁠

Our Beautiful Bunches help support both people, and the planet! 🌍♥️

We’re passionate about sustainability and caring for the environment, sourcing locally grown flowers wherever possible (shoutout to our friends at ), as well as using 100% biodegradable packaging 🌱

So when it comes to managing our waste, it was a no-brainer to partner with , whose mission is to divert soft plastic from sitting in landfill forever, by turning it back into a useful resource ♻️

This incredible team collects, and then delivers soft plastic to local recyclers, while pushing for research and innovation in creating products from these recycled materials.

Since 2014, Reground have diverted over 221,175 kgs of soft plastic from landfill.

Our mission at the Beautiful Bunch is grounded so deeply in the healing power of nature and the environment, so we are so proud to be partnered with another social enterprise like Reground in preserving this for the future 💕💐
